Cummins m11 vs cummins ism

Don’t know anything about those engines, but…. if the talk of deleting something comes up the owners may get a little restless and scrap this post or close it. Just a friendly heads up….

 

It’s my understanding, the M11, and the ISM share the block and guts. What hangs on the outside, I don’t know.

 

The M11 CELECT Plus became the ISM when Cummins applied its Interact System (hence the "IS" in ISM) to the M11 CELECT Plus in 1998.

The Interact System, which will move up to Cummins heavy-duty engine models in the future, provides medium-duty engine users with full programmability and engine protection monitoring. It also features an open architecture and J1939 communications link that allows it to collect and transfer operating information, communicate with diagnostic and other data tools, and work with other "smart" powertrain components.

I have an M11, not the ism, but was always told it’s same engine, with exception of the updated system above

 

The ISM went into production in 1998 or 99. Plenty of pre egr models laying around..
