Im driving 2013 KWT660 w isx15.
On startup it has 40+ psi, once warms up drops down to 20 when stopped at light or parked/idling. Is that normal low psi reading or should it be higher?
It has 374Xxx miles

I can't remember off the top of my head. I do recall they seem to run lower than most Cats I've been around.
-
That's not too bad,I'd rather see 25ish. What is your oil temp at that time?
-
No gauge for oil temp...its not peterbilt
-
Pick up a laser temp gun, they come in handy for a lot of things. Shoot the oil cooler,it'll be a little lower than oil temp but close enough.

According to Cummins minimum allowable oil pressure at idle at operating temperature is 15 psi. Governed speed with no load is 35 to 40 psi.
AllorNothing, bbt_387, 062 and 1 other person Thank this. -
20 psi is fine. Also, remember, some guys have their engines idling at 700, others 650 or 600 rpm.
062 Thanks this. -
20psi is normal at operating temp for an isx. Cummins uses a high volume rather than a high pressure librication system.

Don't sweat the small stuff. If it goes too low you will know. My '05 565 ISX ran 18-22 at an idle (operating temp) and 38-42 going down the road. I sold it with 481,000 miles on it. No long term info.
