Had a customer that had a hole in their oil pan. They patched it once and it held for a while then started leaking. They replaced the pan and 5 months later it has a pin hole in the same area. Anyone ever heard of such?

Is the hole a small puncture, or has it rubbed through from something flapping in the wind? What does the inside look like?

I will trade them my ISX with a hole in the block for their ISX with a hole in the pan.

I still had the old oil pan and took a look at it today from the inside. It looks like two pit marks. I will try and take a picture of what the inside looks like and post tomorrow. I had to leave work early today and when he came in he was in a hurry to get a load some where. I just drained enough oil out of his pan to clean it, get it dry, and buff it off. Then I put on some JB Kwik. Stopped the leak but I told him when he is due for service we need to drop it and repair it better. The last one he had his insurance company pay for. This one is on him.

Are those ISX pans stamped steel or are they a composite type material? I wonder if a guy could weld a heavier patch over the problem spot?

The pans are stamped steel. the ones I see leaking are heavily corroded.
