I just bought an 06 Pete with an ISX 450 that has supposedly been turned up to 500. I also own a Pete with a Cat 3406E 500 hp, the Cat will out pull the Cummins by double. Same trans and ratios. The ISX is only producing about 28 - 30 lbs of boost, the engine oil gets real hot, up near the red line when it's working. Can anyone tell me firstly, can a 450 be turned up to 500 HP and what should the boost pressure max out at when it's pulling

hello,justtruck1 I would have to say it is stock .I had the same problems with Freightliner trucks lieing to me about the H.P. . they paid 3000 to keep the truckpaper people from pulling them if they did not make it right. I have a fld120 2001 w/isx450 that makes the same 24-27ish lbs boost . a 500 is 29-34 I belive is what was quoted. there is a place called J Ball in B.C. that can help you more ...I am going to have cummins reflash my E C M to 600 for 300 clams ,and will be careful on E G T and boost
justruck1 Thanks this. -
One of our trucks is a 2004 Volvo with a 450ISX and the boost goes up to 35psi. This is stock setting.

35 boost is not 450hp there ..you must be in the 500+ or so ?? but you have a emissions engine there don`t know about them

the only way to know what the spec is is to get it from cummins or someone who has access to the cummins website based on the engine serial number, also low fuel pressure equeals low boost pressure, its over looked more than you think.
