Hey guys. Looking for some help on this one. We have this little Cummins in the shop that keeps throwing code 2554 for Exhaust gas pressure data incorrect, erratic or intermittent. It is in a Freightliner Business class truck. Unit will log this code at the beginning of a forced regen and SCR system test. Unit came in with this code and code 3582 for SCR Catalyst conversion efficiency below normal. We cleaned the Urea doser for being totally plugged, but still keep getting this 2554 code. We have troubleshooted the wiring and even replaced the sensor. Troubleshooting exhausted. Code will not happen during a road test. Only happens during a forced regen or SCR system test, but I believe it will happen again once the customer takes it and the SCR system tries to work. We are currently working with Cummins, but they are starting to scratch their heads and running out of ideas. We have removed and re-calibrated the VGT actuator. We confirmed it is the correct one as well. Anyone run into something like this? Any ideas?
    Thanks

Finally a chance to help you for once!!! I work on a lot of these for Budget rental. When you remove the EGR pressure differential sensor you are not going to see where the ports are because they are going to be so plugged that it will blend in with the wall of the mounting plate. Look real close and when you find it, take a 90 degree pick tool and start digging. After I get it started I finish the job with a coat hanger then blow it out clean with shop air. Usually the port to the left clogs more than the other one. You will know when you are thru to the mixer when that shop air flows freely. I have done at least 10 of these over the last month or so.

I did remove that sensor and blew shop air through both ports. They are clear. EGR diff pressure shows 0.0 during a regen, so the valve looks to be sealing closed properly.

I appreciate it! I haven't worked on too many of these so this is a learning process.

I will see my guy at local Cummins house tomorrow. He is the troubleshooter there. He needs help in framing a DD60 so he will be as helpful as possible!

Showed him your post and he could not come up with anything different than what you have already done. His guess would be a egr valve acting stupid.

Didn't work on it today, but Cummins wants us to run an overlay between the exhaust gas pressure sensor and ecm. We'll try it and report back.

Ran an overlay for the signal wire of the exhaust gas pressure sensor. Same fault happening. No fix yet.

Have you got a datalog when its happening? Is it actually erratic exhaust pressure? Next step would be a voltmeter teed into the supply and ground to see if a signal is dropping off / wandering. It looks like it has a common power with 2 other sensors so it could be an issue on another sensor but only affecting this one like the dpf differential sensor killing the tps on the isx. I am curious what the pressure is in the snapshot for the code. I assume all exhaust leaks were taken care of during the t shoot tree?
