what is MID 28 PID 391 FMI 11? Is it regen related? Driver said "check" keeps coming on, but the truck is running fine. Thank you.

You will not be able to regen with this code active.

This fault code becomes active when the aftertreatment diesel oxidation catalyst inlet and aftertreatment diesel particulate filter inlet temperature sensors do not detect the presence of a catalyst in the aftertreatment system. This can be caused by tampering with the catalyst system, the catalyst has been removed from the vehicle, or a damaged catalyst

    CODE REASON EFFECT
    Fault Code: 1664
    PID: S380
    SPN: 3050
    FMI: 11
    LAMP: Amber
    SRT:
Catalyst Missing - Condition Exists. The aftertreatment catalyst in the exhaust system is not present.

Active aftertreatment diesel particulate filter regeneration will be disabled

That has to do with the EGR pressure differential sensor, most likely the tubes are clogged. Pull the tubes off the sensor, if they are blocked, clean them out really good. Some of them are really hard to clean out and easier to just replace.

If he keeps going, at some point the dreaded red shutdown light will appear and he'll be screwed. Besides what GrapeApe says I'd get it to a shop in short order and plug into it.

How do you know that? All we know is Cummins, no year or model. Need more info to say for sure what may happen. I have never seen one shut down for an EGR differential pressure sensor issue.

    SAR and Heavyd Thank this.

If the truck has this code present, the truck will not be able to start a regeneration. After sometime running the truck you will get a high soot load shutdown. The year and/or model is irrelevant. He's already told us he has a DPF, SCR, EGR system on his truck.

And the EGR differential pressure sensor has nothing to do with this error. It's a Catalyst err. It's not spraying into the exhaust properly. Usually a bad sensor in the tank.

Wrong, it has NOTHING to do with the DOC. It has NOTHING to do with regeneration My info is right from the quickserve fault code search. I did this search on a CM871, we do not know what engine he has, the fault code will be the same on any engine, but the action taken by the ECM may change, so we do not know exactly what would, should, or could happen without knowing what engine it is. As shown by Cornbinder_King above, the catalyst is PID 380, that's NOT what he wrote, said PID 391.

    Fault Code: 2774
    PID: S391
    SPN: 3058
    FMI: 11/31
    LAMP: Amber
    SRT:

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System - Condition Exists. Plugged EGR differential pressure sensor tubes have been detected.

Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active:
    • The ECM illuminates the amber CHECK ENGINE light immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails.
    • EGR valve operation will be disabled.
Possible causes of this fault code include:

    • A plugged or leaking low or high EGR differential pressure tube
    • Carbon buildup inside the EGR venturi tube blocking the opening to the EGR differential pressure tubes.

    Heavyd Thanks this.

If you're referring to the PID 380 mentioned above, that has nothing to do with anything spraying or any sensors in a tank. There is no tank for the regen system other than the fuel tank where the doser fuel comes from. That fault is nothing more than the ECM comparing DOC inelt temp to DPF inlet temp to determine if the DOC has been removed or damaged.
