I have a 1998 M11 that I have been driving for several years now. Many years ago I had the local KW dealer set my speed limiter to 65 mph and set up driver rewards so I have a little more control. All was good until last Friday....... My truck won't go over 63 mph. I took it o another KW dealer and they hooked up the onsite laptop and it looks like driver rewards is set to 3.5 mpg. Im pretty sure I'm getting better then that. Why is my truck governed now?

What are the idle standards set at? Also, when the speed reward is programmed in, there's also a line for "Penalty"... was that value filled in?

"driver reward status" value said "Penalty". Is that what you mean?

Idle standards 50% if I was reading it correctly (looking over the "tech's" shoulder).

Because you need a laptop and the Cummins Insite program installed on it. Then you need to hook the laptop up to the data port.

Yes. With Insite, you'd go to "features and parameters"... if you enable Driver Rewards, then there'll be a drop down menu, and you'll see "Speed Rewards" in the sub-menu... then you click on that for a sub-menu in which you can put in three different Driver Reward speeds for 'best', 'expected', and 'good'. And, underneath that, there's a space for "Penalty", where an amount of speed a driver can be docked for not making the Driver Reward criteria can be put in.

I called Cummins today to buy a copy of "Insite". They told me not to waste my money and download "powerspec" instead. Free download all I have do to is buy the $700 cord.

I see. Pretty sure best, expected and good were all set at 3.5 mpg. I KNOW I am getting better than that. The tech didn't click on the "penalty" drop down menu so I don't know what that parameter was set to. Pretty weird how it just changed overnight.

Powerspec is good to have... I'd recommend getting a NexIQ connector over Inline 6, since you can use NexIQ to diagnose ABS issues, as well.
Aside from fuel mileage, there's also idle time criteria which can be set for Driver Rewards, as well.
Penalty will be in the same drop down menu as the 'best/expected/good' speed reward settings are.

They told me I could get the Inline 6 from any Cummins or KW parts counter. Will they have the NexIQ there as well?

Excellent info here. Thanks Witching hour.

Does Powerspec let me change the tune, do a cylinder cut out and monitor the injectors while driving to see if I have a bad injector under load?
