I put in an app for this position out of Amarillo and am waiting on an opening after talking to one of the recruiters there. The position seems to be quite simple and similar to some LTL/Linehaul operations. Relay a loaded trailer from the Amarillo terminal over to, say, Kingman AZ and drive right back with an eastbound relay.

Another attraction to me was the laid-back schedule. Work as many trips as you want throughout the given month, take some time off, then come back. Of course this seems doable since it's a slip-seat operation when you take off and then come back. But I'm not really into living in the truck all the time and decking it out with all sorts of personal items and property apart from strict, trip essentials for a few nights.

That said, is there anyone else that has done this and have anything to add about it? The pay is the last thing I was looking at and the relay guys start out at .40/mile. Seems low to many, but with the time off you could take without consequence, it seems okay to deal with for someone like myself. Only other things I've been looking at doing as far as linehaul goes are any ODFL, or similar outfits if a position opens up in Albuquerque. Had some job offers from the Denver area, but not too interested in having to change my license over and having to find some place to live in that market. At least with the CTI position, I could stay where I'm at and just head up Amarillo when I ready to make some runs.

After the last, three years here at IRT, I'm ready to bounce. The Clovis-to-Canyon shuttle runs are alright. But I keep getting threatened with "go back to loading, or go to 48state/OTR" since the new guy in charge wants to eliminate the shuttling. And milk/agriculture is pretty much all there in the area, so a little switch-up would be nice.

No. Definitely not them. It's another Central based out of Missouri.

According to locals here, CTI kinda sucks. Look in Farmington, estes, fxf, were looking, and there's other stuff up there as well, bulk and desert mountain.

Almost got on with FxF in Flagstaff, but passed on that due to their M-F schedule. I stated it elsewhere in here that I like my days off in the middle of the week, or a 3on/4off as I mentioned. As far as "sucking", is this the pay? Because my income requirements, truck note notwithstanding, are paltry.
Estes was also kind of shot-in-the-dark. Went to ABQ for a P/D position there and didn't get it. They don't have any linehaul based out of there either.

As I noted before, I'm trying to stick to not moving out of state. I'd rather get my pickup truck paid off first before I deal with registration woes elsewhere. That thing's been a money thorn in my side for awhile and I'm probably dumping it once I'm square. Strict motorcycle/bicycle after that. Little off-topic, but that's what's brought on this debacle again.

There's a couple. There's the bulk, chemical outfit. Then there's the reefer outfit that's completely unrelated. And edit, I just viewed the CL for that area and now I feel crushed. Eh, back to the drawering boord.

I worked for the bulk, they suck. But their Gallup drivers are reportedly happy.

Lol, you know to me the work there wasn't all that bad, dealing with the pneumatics during the monsoon season did suck, and not to mention the red alerts at the mines for lightning, gotta stop what you are doing and stay in the truck till the alert is lifted, my biggest issue was pay, you could make some good money at Safford terminal hauling acid because the load rates were good, but then go to Curtiss terminal and haul ammonia nitrate (prill) or ammonia nitrate (82% solution) and the rates sucked, not to mention giving up the first hour for loading and the first hour for unloading no pay, that was messed up.

I was in pneumatic but had a talk with an acid driver at Laveen one day, he did well and liked his hours and was semi trying to convince me to try it. His tractor was certainly nicer than my powder-covered old wreck. But that whole bit about taping on an acid-proof suit every day... in Arizona...
