Hello! I am new here. My husband is about to start with CRST Malone and we are concerned because there are just as many bad comments about them as good ones. It's hard to know whether leaving your current company to start another is a good decision or not. He has the weekend to decide. I would like to hear your current experience with them as opposed to when you were with them 5, 10, or 20 years ago. Not lease to purchase drivers. Just O/O's on CRST's authority renting their trailer. I will be the one on the load board finding him loads. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Please read my thread in the favorite companies section . Good company, as an owner operator he will do just fine. Self dispatch no babysitting here, he will book all his own loads. I'm more than willing to help in anyway I can. Let me know

    Puppage and Atruckerswife02 Thank this.

And as far as the load board, he's going to have to be calling agents about loads to. Like every where else the best freight never hits the board.

I actually did read your post and it was a good post, however, aren't you leasing to purchase your truck?
Here's the deal, while he'll be looking on the load board as well, while he is driving I will be looking ahead of time and figuring what each load will pay to the truck before I dispatch him on it.
I also heard CRST Malone shares a load board with Landstar. Not very comforting if that's true!

Not true. We can book from landstar if no other customer freight is near by. I am leasing yes. Other than tags plates and whether you have your own insurance or theirs. We're pulling the same freight. Same system. He will have the option to lease purchase a new trailer. No huge difference the way owner ops operate here than us.

What do you mean by calling the agent? He doesn't have his own authority. Don't they have to be, I don't know, contracted with CRST in order to be considered for a load? I'm not sure how that works. I will be doing the business part of it from home. I stay in constant contact with him while he is out. I will run the load by him before even booking it.
I guess what I'm asking is, what is a better way to find good paying freight if you don't want to use their load board? Or do you have to? This is the first company he's ever been with using a load board on his own. He's been dispatched everywhere else.

As far as the company goes. ZERO issue with the people who operate the company day to day. I have to use crst shops to service my truck, that's the worst part and the only bad thing. And you won't be concerned with that other than trailer work.

    Atruckerswife02 Thanks this.

We have a load board on the board. That displays the loads the pick up city destination the agent you call to book the load and the prices. For obvious reasons I cut a lot of information out of these screen shots. Basically you find a load you want, call the agent book it. Call your FM and get fuel money on your card for the load.
