It would seem ludicrous that many of us would take a job with little or no money in a poor economy, and then be terminated for doing the right thing. In my case I had some money before I started, but that may be beside the point for now. It would seen even more ludicrous that the reason for taking the job is to establish good credit again after being in debt for so long. I had payed off everyone B/4 going to CRST (clean slat) Lets get to why the termination first. I -40 west in AZ. three trucks fallowing so close that when the lane started to taper off in the right hand lane that I was in, the drivers in back of the first truck in the left lane could not see that I was losing lane. So I hit some A frame barricades, my co driver was sleeping and did not have on the safety net, so I did not lock up the breaks. One of the A frame barricades turned up side down under the truck and punched A hole in the new oil pan that was just added to the truck in Atlanta GA. The big question is would I still be working if the truck was not damaged unfortunately by one of the A frame barricades, and if all of the work that was done to the truck the week before in Atlanta that cost CRST some $$$. Would I still have a job ? My pay was going from .22 cents up top .33 cpm on June/06/11 After starting on the 18Th of march/2011 Its not like I was looking for bad things to happen.
I do not think I am alone and I received my first phone call from a creditor today 09/13/11 asking for around $4,000 I feel that it should have been a refresher in my case, I am grandfathered in from 1979. This whole thing seams so wrong, I will be going to the labor board for more info on what can be done. I will let all of you know how it turns out later, if I can! :biggrin_2558:

What are you even trying to say here wheel? This incident happened back in early June...I guess you were fired for it? I am a little confused as to what you are trying to make a point about, or ask.:biggrin_25512:

I think what he is saying is that he was next to Three trucks on a two lane Hwy I-40, and as the right lane came down to one lane (I assume) the other trucks that were in the left lane convoy were unable to see that he was running out of road and failed to yield to him, I may be wrong on this so please exuse me I see that you been a Driver for 20 yrs so at the risk of getting bombarded I'll say it, if it were just like that I myslef would not have opted for them to yield to me rather I would have backed off so that they could pass and then changed lanes when it was clear to do so.... I think looking ahead more than a 1/2 mile would help that, not that I'm saying you werent, I have learned never to assume another driver (or two)in another truck may know whats going on or for that matter cares enough to allow you room, to many times I see this on the road today that some of the Newest Drivers dont understand the give and take rule that once was when the Industry was different and Owner Ops were the goto guys for trucking. I am sorry for what happened that really sucks and hope the best for you.

My take is that there were three trucks coming around him in the left hand lane when the right lane began to end.

Thats what I got too and if thats the case then it's his own fault.. Lanes dont just end or close instantly so he should've known it was coming for awhile... I see it alot, people wait until the last minute and then think you are supposed to yeild to them....:biggrin_25517:

Here's the kicker if you complete the contract you get a letter saying your training is a 1500.00 value and you now owe CRST if i remember right 147.00 for taxs but they will take it out of the next 4 checks.

I'm curious as to why the net wasn't up........ I get the barricade and the 3 trucks but the sleeping driver not protected?

And I doubt the new oil pan had anything to do with the termination. You ran something over, damaged the truck and that's why you were canned.

Back in the Big Truck with CRST. All is going good till I run out of room on I-40 west in Holbrook AZ. In short the lane taperd off into one lane so fast that the 2Nd truck to my left did not see that I was losing lane, So I avoided the Big Crash by staying in my lane. I did hit some barricades along the way. (seven of them) The thing is my co-driver did not have on the safety net in the sleeper, so to keep from launching him up front I did not slam on the brakes. I feel real good about making the right move at the right time to save both our #####. CRST is having doubts about keeping an old new-be, but they did pay my ticket ? (failure to control vehicle) I could lose the job, hard to say. I am feeling deep down inside that the rust is gone and I can move on. Keep On Trucking, Never Look Back !! :Barrier::Barrier::Barrier::Barrier::Barrier::Barr ier::Barrier:

Ok, what wheel is probably getting at in THIS thread, is that the company has come after him for not fulfilling his contract. Well, stuff happens and then you have to pay for it.
