I exercise my right to describe to other drivers a non bias review of a company I have experience with or have heard about.

This is a review of CPC Logistics who handles the freight for Walgreen's stores. In my area is all I can explain and for other area's in the country you would need to speak to someone else.

    This review covers: New Mexico!!!

Overall I would have to say the experience I had with them was up and down and would give a 2.5 out of 5.

There are team runs and solo runs that leave the distribution center in Flagstaff, AZ and all of it going towards New Mexico, Colorado, El Paso, Texas and a few other locations I did not travel to. In this review fits in what they call an extra board driver.

    So let's break it down:

Each route has its driver who is permanently assigned that route as a full-time driver. If you're a solo relay driver you are averaging 2,000 - 2,500 miles a week at 0.40 a mile and 19.00 per hour to start with. Anytime you are doing a pre/post trip, fuel, or drop/hook trailer is when hourly kicks in.

As a peddle run driver the same pay scale applies to you 0.40 per mile and 19.00 per hour to start. As a peddle driver you are making actual store deliveries and since you don't drive many miles then you are going to be on the hourly scale and any time you work above an 8 hr day time and a half is applied. As a peddle run driver you will set up a roller system and driver unload is required most stores averaging 650 - 775 pieces.

As a team driver starting pay is .25 cents per mile and also 19.00 per hour and the mileage I cannot verify exact as I did not run this very often. But you leave Flagstaff, AZ and go to Denver, CO, El Paso, TX, Area's in NM and I believe beyond them points as well.

Peddle drivers work Tuesday - Saturday as do team drivers as well. Relay drivers work Monday - Friday. Extra board driver must be available for dispatch Monday - Saturday for dispatch.

Then there is the extra board driver. As this driver you cover any and all routes as assigned by dispatch. You are on a 700 dollar weekly guarantee because in some cases you are not working each and every day. Your pay falls under each category that I described above if you are working someone route. Also to receive your 700 dollar guarantee you must and I Repeat must accept any dispatching. Don't worry they will not violate hours of service rules.

As a Walgreen's driver they have multiple domiciles in the state you live in. So if you're an employee you either live close by or you have a lengthy commute daily. I know some who are traveling as much as 800 plus miles a week to work in just 5 days and you are responsible for your own wear and tear on your vehicle and yes the fuel bill (Ouch!).

Being an extra board driver you have a 0.50 mileage reimbursement due to the fact that you can go days without working thus only making a 700 dollar guarantee.

So here it is in a summary.

You have potential to make excellent income if you are a permanent full-time employee most are averaging between 55,000 and 65,000 a year salary. You have benefits such as paid vacation, medical and some extra benefits as well and a team driver gets the same as well.

I was an extra board driver so I am not sure exactly what a permanent employee all received for benefits. I had medical and 1 week vacation over 1 year employment and a few others. Life insurance disability etc.. As an extra board driver your weekly income varies 700 a week if slow up to 1200 a week when working a full week.

As an extra board driver you cover vacations, call-ins, and pretty much where ever they need you and that is to cover any and all - you will travel to another state if needed in your personal vehicle at 0.50 mileage reimbursement. In this position you are also subject to some extremely short notice call in placing you in a position of wow. Wow is when you have not worked for a few days and so you are sleeping at night again as us humans do and then all of a sudden you get a call and you must leave in very extremely short notice for a route that runs at 7:30pm and goes into 5am or so.

Wow, you just stayed up 24 hrs congratulations if this doesn't affect you more power to you!

I did it many times but man did I get dang tired and drowsy making me question if money is more important than life. I choose life! Again it doesn't happen all the time, just keep it a mental note if you want to work here as an extra board driver.

I know many of us have stayed up 24 hours and many of us did it at our own decision.

Like you just arrived somewhere to deliver a load and you did your 11/14 rule and decide to not sleep and bam you are dispatched and you can't rest. Whose fault is that? This circumstance is different at CPC Logistics/Walgreens.

So as a summary there you go and this is a real up front review that no one will take time to write about. Yes I could have written more but this is already long enough. If you have questions please ask me and I will answer you the best I can.

Like I said the company has its ups and downs, but what company doesn't fall into that category. When you find a job or are looking for multiple prospects before you narrow it down to who you want to drive for you will pick less of all evils. I hope this helps out and good luck driver.

wow.. great review of CPC Walgreens. I am up in N Dakota hauling crude oil and I am so sick of all the BS and liars up here. This place is not roads paved with gold. The roads are smeared with dog ####. The days of making 12K per month take home are long over. DOT and Feds are cracking down on companies and in turn cracking down on drivers meaning less work, less income. And oil production is on a downswing and has been for a while now. I ve had it here.... CPC Walgreens is looking for drivers ASAP in Jupiter Florida, I am thinking of heading back home and trying them out. Walmart is looking too in Florida. Thank you for the great review. Good luck to you all
