I was working for Covenant a while back and was having a hard time getting home because of how teams worked. After discussing it with my dm I got a load going by my house and they said I could get off the truck, have my team driver finish the load, and then I would get back on the truck as the next load came back by. The load was delivered on time and my team driver was heading back towards me when I was informed I was fired for load abandonment. They also apparently fired the dm who gave me permission and won't stop telling other companies that I abandoned the load. Is there anything I can do?

Hire a lwayer. You can dispute things in various places but the Employer Verification Form is one thing youll never see so you have to get a lawyer to force them to prove their position. If they can't then you have a nice slander or libel case on your hands.

Sounds like there is more to the story - but try this; Send Covenants HR department an email and a letter via Fed Ex or USPS registered mail outlining what happened, when it happened who you talked to and the results. Let them know that you are requesting to be reinstated immediately. Keep it short and to the point.

Boy, this a horsecrap deal if I ever heard one. Fired the dm too, that's interesting. 1st of all, I don't think you did anything wrong,Covenant, pfft, big deal, HOWEVER,,and here's the tricky part, once you get a bad name in the system, legit or not, it's like water in a BC Cummins fuel system, takes forever to get rid of it. If the vindictive type, fire bomb the terminal, but in a more civil way, just move on. It's a drivers market today, and you may have to do some 'esplainin' but your career is far from over. I think the dm was in hot water anyway, and you got shanghaied into the mess. Good luck.

If you’re TRULY not leaving anything out, lawyer up. I would not stand for this. They are falsely attacking your livelihood. THAT SAID, As is so often, the case with these stories, there’s usually major details left out.

Sounds like a wrongful termination law suit to me. Let your attorney do what needs done.

I agree but wouldn't waste a dime, and just move on. Covenant, pfft, they'll be the next to go.

An hour wasted in the attorneys office could net a few grand at the end.
Yep the lawyer will most likely make out best but a few grand for your Hassel and an hour more of your time, that's profit and forcing them to fix any tarnished reports with no further wasted energy or time. Sounds like a winner and some money in the bank to me considering 90% of the time once you lawyer up these companies settle rather than go to court when they are knowingly in the wrong.

If you apply for UPS and they turn you down because of a negative report, couldn't you argue that you've potentially lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in income because of their lies? I know, good luck proving it.
