The fan clutch on the 98 Pete 377 that I'm driving is audibly leaking air when it's engaged. I'm guessing that this is a good indication that it's time to consider replacing it. Any ideas on a ballpark cost? I seem to recall hearing that the clutch itself is around $600, plus labor. Engine is a Detroit 60 series, 250,000 original miles.

Can it be something as simple as a seal? I'm thinking that it would take as much if not more labor to rebuild than to replace.

Do you know if you have a Kyser or a Horton clutch?

Most older Petes had Horton air to apply clutches. Rebuild kits for these are not too much $. To do the whole job we normaly charge 3 hours. If you removed the hub yourself we charge one hour to rebuild them. These are easy to do.

Kyser clutchs are a separtate bolt on piece to the hub. They can be rebuilt but a new one cost is low enough that we normaly replace them.

If you remove it just rebuild it you can get a minor kit but in my experience better to rebuild it while you got it out
