My experience where we're at is that there's very little money in hauling for elevators and big acre growers. Too many trucks do it for fun.
Best advice I can give is if you want to pull a hopper and take home a little $ at the end of the day, get on the list with seed companies. Haul seed beans for Monsanto or Pioneer and you'll make a little more during the latter part of the fall, and through winter/early spring. It's not year round work, and you have to clean out the trailer between varieties, but I think you'll find its worth it if you don't mind working a little outside the truck.
