could be piston liners or compressor is there water in the oil?

**It could be the tank cap not releasing pressure try, driving without the cap on and watch the level over a few days**

how many litres do you put in

    pressure test the system

check behind the turbo there is a big side cover they usually leak around the seal

    check all hoses

have cab over with window down, take cap off header tank, fill up to full level mark, get a step ladder and start it up climb up on RH wheel lean over to look inside tank and see if any bubbles if bubbles either compressor or head gasket

Definitely Air Compressor, had the same problem, blown Air Co head, it cost me $1600...
Changed it, no pressure, no coolant issues.

While on the road, my upper radiator hose literally blew up. I replaced it and it happened again. Installed a 3rd hose and trying to figure out things I observed that: a)A great amount of pressure builds up in the reservoir and hoses the minute I turn on the engine to the point that if I don't loosen the cap it just pushes out the coolant through the overflow.
    b) The air pressure gauges don't seem to build up enough air to for the air bags and to release the brakes unless I let it idle for about 10 minutes, but if I do that I may lose another hose. CAN THIS BE FIXED ON THE ROAD? IS THIS A BIG PROBLEM? PLEASE HELP! Thank you all!

air compressor for sure man get a 20 litre drum with a tap on the bottom take the two coolant hoses on the compressor off plug them or join them or crimp them over now the two down to the compressor one hose with go to tap on the drum and the other hose goes back in the top fill the drum 3/4's full of water put the drum a foot or so higher , this will create and external radiator more less but can blow out the air too can go for abit then will have to let it cool down depending or how you have to go

    KHYCO Thanks this.

Thanks again for your great explanation! I installed a new air compressor and still noticed the pressure build up in the cooling system and no air going to airbags suspension. Come to find out: THE AIR DRYER FILTER HAD NEVER BEEN CHANGED. IT WAS CLOGGED. ALSO THE MAIN AIR HOSE CONNECTION FITTING AT THE AIR DRYER WAS CLOGGED SOLID.
I pulled out the air dryer assembly. Took it home and cleaned it like it was brand new. Installed new fittings, new filter and now is WORKING FLAWLESSLY!!! My thanks again.
    BLESSINGS TO ALL!

awesome man yes come across the same thing airdryer clogged with a blocked line and doing the 20l drum idea is great to get them mobile again if you ever come across a no build up or stopped replenishing air you can take the little 1/4 line off the dryer and crimp it over this will fool it to keep pumping

Hey Guys can you please help me figure this out, i have a 2015 volvo vnl780 D13 550.000 miles. I am getting low coolant level alarm, mostly when hauling heavy uphill and downhil as well, i would stop and coolant would be under minimum level, than i would open the tank and there would be lots of pressure coming out and than coolant would come back in the tank to normal level most of the time, sometimes a bit short and I'd add. I had coolant hoses blow , also noticed white smoke at cold start, recently changed EGR cooler but im still getting low coolant level alarm, pressure in the system and some white smoke at cold start also had another hose blown out recently probablydo to pressure. Can someone help?

    @Daniel aitonean

Have injector cups ever been replaced? Take it to a shop and see if the cups are leaking.
When was the last time you drained the air tanks? Not saying this is the problem but you can eliminate this. If red coolant is present this could be the possible source of the pressure.

Also might check the egr cooler even tho it was replaced.
