I'm having a tough time finding any definitive info on how you register a converter dolly in massachusetts, if you you even need to at all. Is it just a trailer? Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I never heard of plating a dolly, I've got a couple and never saw them on the list for licenses.

In Ca. you register a dolly (con gear) but not a U-Haul type car tow dolly !

Generally speaking if you always have it between two trailers it may not need plated. If it will be pulled behind one trailer or tractor without trailer behind it , you will need plates lights etc.

I've seen fed ex converter dollies with I think mass plates, my father in law said they had to get them registered in order to tow them as the "last trailer" so to speak. I would imagine a good insurance agent could find out for you.

We don't have any plates on dollys and we tow with IMPUNITY. Behind one trailer and without another trailer hooked up and occasionally with bobtail. But we're ups. Your results may vary.
