I have side kit now and looking to buy conestoga for coils. Really expensive. If I bang into something with conestoga I am worried if I don't have black iron on deck then I am screwed. Anyone have any to say?

Conestogas are time savers, they're a lot wider than you think though. They were 108" at my last job. Without mirror extensions it can be hard to back in to places, docks in particular. Lots of my friends run Conestogas and swear by them, all they haul is steel

I haul coils 50% of the year. I can't justify the cost over a sidekit. Side kit is still lighter and cheaper.

Cheap raw coils, some call them "master coils". Master cheap and heavy.

I had to go search “flatbed trailer side kit” to understand what exactly you have so that I can ask this question.

how long does it take you to take it down for loading and reassemble?

It depends on the load. Single stand up coil, it's taken me 30 minutes to grab my load info, back in, untarp, secure and retarp.

    40' bar is less enjoyable.

I have 2 ...flat and step ...mine looks exactly same as i picked it up 1.5 years ago(except tiny rip - horrible mistake to give it to the driver just for 1 load ...still itching my eye ) ...drivers - panels replaced already 2 times , rips
I noticed guys hauling metals have conestoga probably foot or bit more lower than regular ...i guess they haul only metal ...i hate being heavy
...if you care about your equipment - you should be fine , saves a lot of time tarping/untarping
