I had a DOT exam in Febuary and passed, no problem rather that the company bad and ended up giving a notice. I found a new company much better but had to go back to a Concentra location that had always given me problems in the past.
As with the last time at this location it was againe my hearing wich in never had a problem with. I passed the physical stress exam, and all other exams but that stoped on my hearing.
Last time same problem and had to go to an Audiological to be tested and past and Concentra's findings were over trurn by physican's results.
Now they want my medical history as if for the past twenty years they do not have enoungh medical information. Come to find out that they do not have a central medical data base that is shared by all locations.
Their results showed that my normal hearing was good then I asked what is non-normal hearing? That they must have confused me with a wrong species that I am not an animal such as a dog. That I don't run and scratch at my door when some one blows a dog whistel down the street.![]()

glad to hear you did pass though, and i was also glad to hear that apparently they do not have a "central data system"...(that is insane) and that just sucks. i cannot believe that they are not all connected, given that they are a network....oh well. -
Hearing test at Concentra are given by non-professionlas were they look at the results from a machine and that's it. I made an appointment with a specialist ( Audiological ) and given a complete test that would put the test given by Concentra to shame. Indeed, that I have a slight loss in hearing in right ear but still overall I passed. Took their from back to Concentra and got my DOT physical card. No questions asked but this makes the second time I had to go through this.
You and I can agree that dealing with a walk-in medical clinic has draw backs and Concentra is behind in their times. The one thing I was angree about was their attuide and not realize that Drivers like myself this is my way making a living and we have to fork out an additional expence to prove them wrong. -
Took the letter back to Concentra from the Audiologist stating that I did meet the DOT acuitry requirements. But that was not good enough,
they wanted a letter from a ENT physican stating that I did not need a hearing aid. They put on my DOT physical card vision and hearing aid?
Profound is it not that the physican at the Concentra location say that I needed an hearing aid, only an ENT can say if I needed one.
I have not even seen an ENT yet, stupid is it not? -
Went to an ENT physican and he agreed with the results from the audiologist test and wrote a note to the clinic that I have meant the DOT hearing requirements. Here is the part that will show you how stupid these people are at the clinics.
The first question from the staff member when I took the letter back they asked for his test. I looked at her as is there was a tree growing out of her ear and said that an ENT did a physical exam, he does not give test. I told her that an ENT reads the test from an audiologlist and follows up with a physical exam.
I got my DOT physical card in the end.Last edited: Jun 6, 2011

My wife and driving partner went to Concentra.I had no problems but my wife was turned down because they did not like the medicine she was on which she has been on since 2007.Shes been through multiple DOT physicals and has had no problems.Shes always been honest with her medical issues and listed all medications taken. Now all of a sudden when we go to Concentra the meds shes on are all wrong and they tell her she will need to get a letter from her Doctor stating why she is on these meds. She did that and they still turned her down again.

Really, really upset because I HAD been hired for a county driving position, and had to go to Concentra. I knew the stroke I had in 2012 might be an issue (and they also had sleep apnea listed on the form, which I checked). The Doc gave me ppwk to have the nuerologist fill out and clear me, which I did and came back three days later with it. The Doc was gone, but the head one, I guess, was there and denied me because, "What the nuerologist says doesn't matter; I could lose my license or this place get sued." Oh, really??!!! WHY did you give me the ppwk and tell me I had to be cleared?!! And, why would you tell me I could go to another Doctor and get cleared by THAT one but that you would STILL turn me down for a Health Card??!!! I wouldn't have had the stroke in the first place if my Dr had had me on the right medication anyway, and the sleep apnea is NOT obstructive (btw, they were ok with that as per the CPAP dwld'd report!). NOW I gotta find out how to get this overturned, and am going to call FMCSA to see what can be submitted for a waiver. I've already lost out on this job because training starts Monday and I needed to have the card before then, but maybe I can get something moving in the interim. Angry! Angry! ANGRY!!
