First, an acert does make more boost than a single turbo. My 550 cats make 35 lbs of boost under full load, our 475 acert makes over 40 and still won't out pull the older e model. We have done one compound turbo setup in a 99 Pete with a 3406e. I forget what the turbos were exactly but the truck makes right at 48lbs of boost. We put a JWAC cooler on it and tuned it to a 600 cat tune and put the 800 horse marine cam in it. Mind you this is not our fortee but it's the owner of one of my big customer and he wanted to try it so we did. That truck is a monster, he pulls end dump here in Texas and it's crazy that truck never slows down. Only problem he has is that in the summer he has to back off of it or it will try to overheat. Other than that it's been good. Pyro stays in check, intake air will get a little high in the summer though. I personally wouldn't do it because of longevity but it's his money. He did crack the head once getting it a little to hot but we replaced and been good about a year now. Pretty sure PDI makes and sells a kit for this application. I also hear that people are fabbing up mounts and using the stock acert turbos on older e models and c15 with great success

Bean Jr. Thanks this.

The acert has to make more boost because when the IVAs are active the intake valve is held open.
There are guys that have done back to back testing of just turning the IVAs off and boost has dropped a good bit and no change in power on the dyno.
You changed to that setup on your pickup because you were to the point that a single becomes less practical on the streets, I can almost bet you are no where close to that on your big truck engine. -
No I guess I seen such huge gains in power on my pickup with the compound setup that I thought why don't they get used more on the big semi trucks.

Because there are singles that cover the normal working HP range without trouble.
