The following is a list i am compiling that consists of companies that have Peterbilts and/or Kenworth tractors. (i am doing exhaustive research before making my next move)
Also, note that this does not nessesarily mean that company uses petes and/or kenworths exclusively--they may also use, for example, freightliners in addition to using KW's and petes. i will try to notate this whenever possible.
1) Paul transportation
2) Buel, inc.
3) apt transportation (non-exclusive)
4) Smith transport (non-exclusive)
5)Marten transport (non-exclusive)
i will add more as i discover more. In addition, i would welcome any other suggestions that you know of.

Western Distributing out of Colorado also screws any drivers stupid enough to fall for a big truck and no money. About 27 cpm for 10 years eperience, I believe.
White Farms out of Doniphan Ne also ropes in suckers with big trucks. Close to 25 cpm.
And don't forget our good friends at Hurricane Express. They'll lease you the truck!!
Boy, do I ever see a pattern here....LOL! -
By the way, if you are choosing a company solely on the brand of truck they drive, you are starting behind the eightball from the beginning. "Exhaustive research" should point out to you that you stand a good chance of getting the image of that big truck stuffed right up your wazoo, and will make little or no money in the process. They didn't buy those trucks because they were the best machines for the job, or because they would return the best fuel mileage. They bought them because they knew there was some dummy out there to whom the hood ornament was so important, he would take less pay so he could stare at the back end of the ornament all day long.
And people that fall for this truck/trick get no sympathy from me because they bring it onto themselves.halfburn Thanks this. -
Which of these outfits has nothing but Pete rigs? Those are the outfits you'd want to go with if you have "gotta-have-it-osis". Companies that have a few Petes sprinkled in their fleets usually use those as carrots to get something from their drivers. They'll play drivers off against each other, as all want to be driving one of the penile extensions. And those driving a phallus must be constantly on guard and kiss tail to no end, lest they be replaced by a better kisser. I guess I don't have to say "avoid them", right?

Funny, as long as it passes inspection I will drive what they give me, I have never complained about a tractor, but then again I was started at 47 cpm and got a handsome increase after 90 days with no incidents, which I just hit this week, and any how they did put me in a brand new truck with a 460, it is just not a cool one with a heli pad under the windshield. I have full benies and 2 retirement plans, yes they put in to both. But then again i do have a family to support and a mortage, I actually keep the thing spotless (yep polish the wheels too)... But to make less money to drive a cool truck is just not even close to being optional in my book,

I agree with ya doma if it passes inspection who cares what brand it is. As long as it gets me there safely i really don't care what i drive.

While i completely agree that one should not base a decision to move to a company based on tractor selection only, in it's extreme sense, i also believe that you're going to be driving the thing 10 or more hours a day---everyday. So, you might as well be happy with what you're driving.
So, which brand/model of tractor they got isn't EVERYTHING, but it's alot. You can't tell me you'd really rather be driving a century than, say, a t-600 or 386 UNLESS:
a) you're into freightliners which proves my point; You have a preference for a certain brand/model of truck and you're more comfortable with it and there's nothing wrong with that. More power to you.
b) You (supposedly) don't care what you drive as long as is "safe, reliable etc." That's great, because you've got extreme flexibilty. And you need that in this game. (i think?)
i, personally, have usually always, picked companies, in large part, based on what equipment they got. See, i got into trucking because i like trucks and i like driving. Why should i settle for less? The companies that i [somewhat] reluctantly choose that did not have the equipment that i really wanted to drive still, in most cases, worked out because i still like driving, so the second part of the equation was still there---that i like driving alot. i choose these companies based on other factors such as: location, money, hours, other benefits such as hotels etc. (this proves that i'm not the type the bases a decision soley on what type of equipment a company has) But the companies that also had the right tractors, i was generally much more happier working there.
So, in essence, i believe that you should not base a decision soley on what kind of tractors they got, but there is nothing wrong with placing emphasis on that as a criteria for choosing a company. And, i believe that more of you should feel this way as well.hhmag70, bbechtel16 and bigdipper Thank this.
