Anybody know of a company that runs old trucks?

Most of the ads seem to have, "2021, or newer!" as one of the benefits, but nobody advertises old equipment.

I prefer a rig at least 15 - 20 years old - even when it's in bad condition - to a new one, and something from the 1950s is just fine. Untreated wear and tear, and a lack of creature comforts beats endless electrical issues, lousy manufacturing, that smell all the upholstery has now, and electronic micromanagement any day. I can do a lot of repairs myself, and don't mind it as long as I'm getting paid, so that's not an issue.

Trucks that old; you're working for the truck, the truck isn't working for you.
Sure, there are anomalies to that and some old-timer drivers know how to make it successful for them.

Nobody is going to pay a driver to work on a truck. 1) the time you spend working on the truck counts against your maximum legal hours per day or 8 days. Drivers are often paid by the mile, not the hour. If the truck is parked for repairs you get paid nothing 2) any repair that is faulty still leaves the truck owner on the hook from a lawsuit. 3) where do you get parks for 15-20 old truck when you are in West Toe Suck, Arkansas? 4) Customers are not paying enough to move freight so there is no trucking company that can afford to have their truck out of service while you put it back together with a butter knife and scotch tape.

Buy an old truck with YOUR money and go broke any way you like.

Check Craigslist, the local truck stop and the local rail yards and ports. You will see plenty of 20 year old trucks running around!

Have you ever driven a truck from the 1950s? And I don't mean once around the shop, I mean every day, all day long.
I started out driving trucks from that era...I started in the late 60s...the trucks were ten years old and they were already the bottom of our barrel. The newer trucks already had power steering and air ride and insulated cabs but I didn't get to drive one of those. That's okay, that's the way it was done. When I was breaking in the kids started out on the old equipment. Always. They kept their mouth shut about it too.
I never ever want to see one of those rough riding, hot in the summer, freeze you in the winter, noisy, vibrating, hot oil on the manifold smoke fumes, under powered pieces of crap again. Not even once around the shop.

If you buy one, have it DOT inspected before forking out the money. If you don't it'll just be a lawn ornament or make it a man-cave.

Started in the early 80s so I've drove my share of old equipment 66 Coe Ford, 69 R model Mack neither had power steering or AC even the 78 Coe KW and would never want to work/drive those again. The oldest I'd go back was the 75 autocar I drove 318 detroit 13spd. power steering and AC and even had air ride suspension 1st I'd ever seen w/air susp.It was only about 10 yrs old when I drove . There been many more I'd never want to drive again

I have a 1950 Ford F5 grain truck. It's fun to drive the 10 miles to town and back on a hot summer day for a slurpee but I'd never drive anything from that Era for a commercial purpose. It simply cannot match the speed and capabilities of a modern truck.

Why not a middle ground of a 5-10 year old Coronado? More of an old school feel without driving some guy's moldy Century Class that hasn't seen an alignment since 2011.

Only halfway reputable company I can think of with some older trucks is Benore Logistics. They have lots of newer trucks, but I've seen them running some older t680's and t700's in TN and AL

Crude Truckin' and Rideandrepair Thank this.
