I am curious as to what companies run into Mexico. Are there any drivers here who do so on a regular basis?

    Thanks :biggrin_25519:

Truck companies drop their trailers at a yard on the US side. Mexican drivers pick them up and go into Mexico, unload and return. Only the trailer goes into Mexico, with a Mexican driver and his truck. Now there are Mexican carriers that cross into the US and deliver (have authority) and return to Mexico. They are Mexican citizens that live in Mexico.

Ohhhh I see! Thank you for explaining that to me.

Is there a reason that US companies don't haul there like they do in Canada? Too dangerous?

How far into the US can mexican truckers go to deliver?

Well, there would be BIG problems with American trucks in Mexico. If you're not from there, you can get into a pickle real easy. Signage, language, corruption, addresses, roads etc. Not to mention the Banditos and loads being hijacked. Accidents are bad news in Mexico. You're a foreigner, you're guilty. Jail first, ask questions later. I've been to Mexico quite a few times, spent 10 days in jail there once, guilty of nothing. Most Mexican carriers with US authority can go anywhere in the US. But I believe there's only something like 30 companies from Mexico with US authority.

Not to mention I have had picked trailers out of Loredo that have been virtually striped. Lights missing, straps gone, etc.

There are no "Mexican Carriers" with US Authority. That is something the idjits that want NAFTA are trying to enforce.

Right now mexican based carriers are supposed to only be in a 20 mile zone at the border. What the Obama administration has proposed is a full access policy where we the American Taxpayer foot the bill for compliance mechanisms of mexican carriers.

It is daily news for anyone ( or should be ) involved in this industry.

    http://www.mysanantonio.com/business/article/DOT-makes-cross-border-pitch-1329532.php

And no right now there is no plan for American Carriers to operate in Mexico. And besides a few who wish to hire Mexican labor as drivers none who want to.

It will be the same as Canadian interlopers taking freight from honest American truckers, and violating federal law hauling loads inside our borders.

The comment period has been open since the 8th with out much fanfair because they really do not care to hear your thoughts.

Several have posted notices about this through out the board but pressing matters of air bags, pee bottles, packing instructions, and other trivial questions have precluded the single most damaging thing coming from the White House this year for our industry.

People should be blowing up the comments. People should be on the phone with their Rep and Senators daily expressing their displeasure, and concerns of this program.

But that insipid Free Wheeling show would rather discuss the proper etiquette for for restrooms:biggrin_25513: Number friggin 1 trucker radio show right there.

Yeah, I apologize for that. I made a comment about the drug war being a large issue with Mexico problems, was called on it, and defended myself.

I didn't mean to knock it off-topic. Ill be more careful in the future :)
