In March 2013 I got a DUI in my personal vehicle. I am trying to find a decent company that will give me a chance with this on my record. Any leads would really be appreciated.

Im fairly sure you are SOL. Im not even sure the bottom feeding scum would even go near you. Possibly try Western Express or Paschall Truck Lines...Good Luck!!!

I've already tried them but thanks. I was hired by Lobos Interstate Services about a month ago only to find out they are running illegal.

No decent company is going to hire a driver with a recent DUI. The companies that pay well want drivers with clean backrounds. Some want DUI's to be at least 5 years old, other companies want them to be at least 10 years old and other companies like the one I drive for won't hire you if you ever had a DUI.

Your best bet would be to get on board with a O/O or join the 1099 army.

I've talked to several that will hire me after it's 3 years old, including my employer before I had the DUI-but then I won't have any recent OTR experience if I just wait it out. I'm just trying to get back in a truck with a company that isn't going to rip me off or try to run me illegal.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Yes just like redwolf said some are 5yr some are 10yrs and some companies wont hire at all with any DUI conviction. find a owner op to work for that might be your best bet

Carolina Cargo might hire you and they run legal. Make a little over $800.00 a week which includes milage pay, ontime delivery pay, fuel milage pay, etc. It's a second chance company that may give you a break. Their main freight is frozen chickens to California and produce back to the East Coast. Lot's more stuff, but that's the main freight.
Drivers that work there say the $800.00 + is easily achievable.

I'm not sure your owner op advice is current....,,

It's the insurance companies that make the call. And us o/os are getting hammered by those guys...

Ok, i know you might have a job by now but the only reason i'm posting this is for the next somebody seeking the answer to this question. When you get a dui obviously your license is suspended for a year. The problem is that Insurance companies won't insure you as a truck driver until the dui is 3 years old. Then when its 3 years old they will tell you that you be hired unless you've had at least 1 years driving experience within the last 3 years. In other words insurance companies don't think one year suspension is enough punishment. When the dui is 3 years old news flash...you will be pimped by large trucking companies that specialize in hiring trainees out of school and guess what "you" will be at the TOP of their choice of drivers because they can ignore your past experience and pimp you at lower entry level driver pay. There is no way around this. You could drive for a dump truck somewhere to until the 3 years is up. Anyway, thats the deal, the one year suspension is really a three year suspension unless you wanna work for the mexican american companies or if your lucky enough to find the right african owner outfit. Sounds cruel but .....thats the way it is.
