I'm not sure if this has been asked here before - I did a few searches and found nothing, so here goes...
Is there a list somewhere of companies that DON'T use DAC/HireRight?
Thanks,
Buzz

Thanks for trying a search first.
To answer your question, I can't....
...but, with CSA2010 rolling out, companies are/will becoming more and more thorough as far as the background checks, references and all that fun stuff. I know that's not exactly what you wanted to hear, but that's the way it is...Buzzard Thanks this. -
I've talked to a local trucking company owner and, believe it or not, he'd never heard of HireRight. I told him about some of the stories I'd heard about false reports and companies trashing your file and career ad he said, "Get on with Werner and don't worry about it!" - so much for HIS advice. (I don't have enough experience to hook up with his company yet.)
I've read on this forum of companies trashing a driver's file after only applying and never even driving for that company. I'd think you could take legal action for crap like that!!
How does a DAC file get started?? I've taken my DOT physical, got my CDL and all the endorsements and since then I've been grain hauling for a farmer. Do I have a DAC file?
Thanks,

Ask the farmer,
if he doesn't use DAC- then you have no file !!
And no, there is no list of companies that do NOT use DAC !!!!
But, usually, the smaller companies don't use it due to costs !!
And you'll be treated better at many small companies !!Buzzard Thanks this. -
I know he doesn't use DAC because he hired me by recommendation from a friend. So - if I DO try to get on with a BIG company, will they reject me because I have "no experience"? That's how it works, right?
I worry about this because all I have is my load receipts (I get paid a percentage of the load) and photocopies of my paycheck. I don't fill out logbooks and I won't have a DAC file. So if I do try to get on with a small trucking company - big, small, reefer, van - will they accept my grain haulin' as experience?
All I really see in these threads is BIG company discussions and DAC file this and that - "Werner or Swift...what do I do?" I can't seem to find any discussion on getting hired by small companies and how to get started there.
Thanks again,
Buzz -
The first thing I did right out of school, was open the yellow pages and started calling trucking companies down the list to see if they hired recent grads. For the most part, the answer was no, but I did find a company that did and that's where and how I got started.

If the carrier is paying attention HireRight and CSA2010 should not be associated because carriers are evaluated only on inspections and crashes associated with their own USDOT Number, so only violations that a driver receives while working for a motor carrier apply to that carrier's SMS evaluation. However, even if a motor carrier terminates a driver, all of the driver's crashes and inspection results that he or she received while operating for that carrier still apply to the carrier's SMS evaluation for 24 months from the date of occurrence.
That comes straight from http://www.csa2010.com/articles/Drivers_CSA_Frequently_Asked_Questions_Answer_Page.htm#1 -
