Colorado trucker in deadly pileup gets 110 years, gets emotional at sentencing
I remember this crash. Judge stated in open court he had to follow guidelines and would have given him twenty years if it were up to him. Harsh! Reasoning was, that he chose to bypass runaway truck ramps and therefore slammed into the back of everyone doing 85 mph.

Good riddiance.SwervinMervin, autopaint, Northern Nomad and 5 others Thank this. -
Good. He killed innocent people and further gives this industry a bad reputation. Any good driver with half a brain wouldve put it in the ditch and killed themselves over innocent people.... He deserves to die in prison after he decided to " close my eyes and steer into the stopped traffic" . what a piece of ####.

It sucks that this driver can have such a negative impact on the rest of the industry. I'm glad he is no longer behind the wheel and putting other people in danger.ProfessionalNoticer, joshuapowell61 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -

i could care less he said he had "no intent"..
to me, by passing a safer way to stop that rig, (such a a runaway ramp) and continue on, to me spells of intent to save himself from getting roughed up a bit as the truck hit the ramp.
good riddance, one more jerk off the road.
my only hope is that if his lawyers appeal this case, that they lose.SwervinMervin and ProfessionalNoticer Thank this. -
Tough Crowd,
I’m just wondering how much mountain training/experience he had. My trucking school in Texas had no training whatsoever and with myself just having experience being a city driver I’d definitely be at a low experience level for mountain driving.
I have driven through that stretch in Colorado and those runaway ramps are kinda intimidating looking, the ones that go straight up, so I just wonder what his experience level was.
This sentence is more fit for a serial killer. People who actually intended to murder are getting far less sentences then this guy.
I believe in justice. But a touch of mercy sometimes is appropriate.Dadetrucking305, ErikN, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this. -

If you recall, right after this happened, he tried to get a flight back to Cuba. That in and of itself tells volumes about his knowledge of his own guilt.
