If you still have receipt Coleman should replace it. It seems some other people had similar problems and was replaced.

coleman will send you a replacement plug. More than likely (since this has happened to me too) you may have had something covering the plug, it gets too hot and melts.

Call them, number is in pamphlet you got with cooler and they will take care of that. Next time, make sure there is nothing covering the plug up, if that was the cause of the meltdown.

Never had a cord burn, yet, the fan would go out or they would just stop cooling. After purchasing a few kits and new coolers I finally purchased one of those truck fridges. Never had any issues with it. It doesn't disharge the batteries so it stays connected.

Sounds silly but it's your Truck...
You can get a new plug but it will melt again.

I slipseated for a while. It seems on some trucks the plug would get hot and eventually melt.
I have replaced my plug 3 or 4 times.

Also right now on my Current Truck the plug does not get hot.

This happens to me after about 9 months to a year of use. It's been the motor going bad and melting the plug. The Colman coolers are good but not made for the continued use.

I unplug mine at night usually. Especially in the Winter.

For one it puts a drain on the Truck Batteries.
Also it freezes up on the inside anyway, so that gives it a chance to melt the ice on the inside.
I have had my Current one for around 2.5 years. Other than replacing plugs it's worked fine.

U can buy a replacement plug at most any truck stop. Make sure that the outlet is clean if it not that will cause the plug to run hotter. I've been using these coolers since they came out. By the way even with a clean outlet plug will sill run a bit hot.I've always carried an extra plug and motor. You can get the replacement motor at a truck stop. T/A an Peto usually have them

great...thanks for all the info. i don't have receipt. i'm sitting at a pilot rite now, so i"ll look and see what they have. if not, there's a t/a across street. swift doesn't allow inverters, so fridge is out. again, thanks for the quick response.

If Swift wasn't so cheap, they could have ordered the factory inverter. Volvo has a fantastic built in Inverter option that includes shore power. My company orders it with their trucks. Runs my black and decker dorm fridge with no problems.
