I'm considering buying one of these and would like to know:
(A) Is it a good radio?
(b) Are the weather alerts good when the weather is bad??

Yes, I like it. Especially for the WX. But it still goes without saying.
If your antenna's are junk, the radio will be junk.
I like the backlight and I like the WX. That's the entire reason I bought that radio. -
I loved mine when I had it. The Nightwatch is great if your constantly playing with the knobs, and the weather alert was great. Never been a fan of the sound tracker, I never had it on. My current 29 is a NW ST and its the first 29 I can leave it on all the time and not loose any range. I think its probably the best lowbuck radio on the market. Have it Peaked and tuned, and add talkback and you'll love it. Mine tuned was pushing 35 watts from appalachin ________ (spelling) at the T/A in Knoxville TN. They have always done me right. (havnt been there in years now as I'm not over the road anymore.)
O crank the squelch to max, and use the RF Gain to adjust for static, and replace the inline fuse for a 5 amp.... -
I have had a couple they are nice radios. Both of mine , the night watch feature quit working about two or three years old

youll want a tech to put a switch or a dimmer on that
nightwatch they go out easy and its not a led so
before it goes out have it on a switch to turn it off
during daytime
