Looks like I'll be moving from a 379 with a wing window to a 379 w/o...
My question is for guys in 379/389, where are you running your coax into the cab ?? I hate to pinch it in the door jam but may not have a choice..
I found this truck on a google pic search for reference (not my truck)..see how this beast has just the one HUGE driver side window..

I Run Mine Down The Door Through The Door Jam And Up Into The Radio But Keep It Hidden For Looks I Show My Truck In Shows Every Now and Then
-
I know a driver who routed his through the mirror bracket.
He drilled a hole in the mirror bracket & ran the coax through there. Then he removed the top of the breather and the four allen screws that mount the mirror to the body and ran the coax through the rubber tube that runs inside the dash.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I have a 389 like the pic, run them thru the mirrows, cb antennas go thru there now, and with a little force can push coax thru there
-
I totally forgot about this thread, thanks for the replies......I ended up going in thru the door jam just above the top hinge seems to work well and didn't pinch the coax to bad so we'll call it a victory..

I just tried this on my 379 today and had no such luck even after taking the screw end off of the coax, once it got down to where the mirror wires are ran, dead stop, tried the old coax and some wire to pull it through and still no luck..any tricks? -
The way I did a 389 I had once. I run the new coax starting from the cb and worked my way out to the antenna. Following the same route as the factory coax. Once the new coax comes out of the cab under the mirror hoop. Cut the factory coax, but leave enough slack to tape the new coax to the old. You can't do this with the pl-259 connector on the new coax. Once the coax is taped together tightly spray some WD-40 down inside the mirror hoop from the top and bottom. Now work the coax back and forth by pulling on the old coax from where the coax comes out the top of the hoop and pushing the new coax from the bottom. Hopefully you haven't cut the pl-259 connector off the end that attaches to the antenna mount. Spray more WD-40 as needed to slick up the inside of the hoop and coax. Now you just need to put on a new connector and you're good.Nagre14 Thanks this. -
WD40 might not be good for the coax cover. Silicone spray might be a better choice.
Mercury man Thanks this. -
Maybe not. I really used PB Blaster and the coax had the clear cover. And, when I got done I shot some brake cleaner down the hoop to flush the PB out.

I route coax through the mirror bracket on the 379 new mirror style.
Chinese finger trap pulls it through just fine. The harder you pull, the tighter it grips.
NightWind, Meteorgray and Cottonmouth85 Thank this.
