Looking for some updated information about Coastal Transport, specifically the Tucson, AZ terminal. I read some threads where they were mentioned, but most of the info was about their Texas locations. Good or bad company? Not very happy with my current tanker job and am thinking about applying with Coastal.

    TIA

I would check with some drivers at some of their stops. You can't miss their trucks. Not sure which trucks they use, maybe Volvos, with fancy decals. If you know where the racks are, it will be easy to just spend a few hours and get their input.
I worked for coastal for a couple of yrs 2006-8 and they're an OK co, and I was in the Austin area. They've greatly improved the quality of their tractors but beware of their trailers. Ours were as old as the hills. No ABS etc.
    good luck.

Bad equipment. And not wanting to fix it. I drove out of Phoenix and quit over the lack of interest in my safety. Good luck.

How long ago did you work for them? All the equipment I've seen at the yard seems pretty new and in good shape.

One of their people recruited at my school. The pay per load was low.

They do have nice equipment though. Beautiful paint jobs on the trucks.

This it's in Corpus Christi BTW. I didn't even know they operated outside of south Texas.

The terminal manager said their starting pay is $11.50 to load and unload (so $23 per load) and then 30cpm for all miles driven. There is a pay raise at 90 days and it goes up to $11.75/32cpm respectively. There are then yearly pay raises after that. He said most drivers are grossing $2000-$2300 per pay period.

He also said that if the load is going more than 100 miles away then the CPM jumps to 35 or 36cpm....can't remember which it is.

I think they told us it was $39 per load and extra if there was as long drive. Sounds like the wages are even lower in az.

Local driving. I admit it was a few years back, maybe 5. Different terminal and who runs it can make a big difference. I wonder how many miles you will really get. The trucks looked good, but had many problems that made them unsafe and they would not fix them.

I'm in San Antonio and considering them, I currently work for Pepsi and the physical labor for low commission is driving me CRAZY!!!!
