Say your new and get put into a truck(2012 Freightliner Columbia midroof) that has had some nasty drivers. Unfortunately that is how it goes for now...

any who. I just wanted to make sure I won't screw anything up by spraying something like Kool-it as cleaner or quest oder eliminator into the can and sleeper hvac vents. I also read something about an ozone air purifier but before I spend time and money on that I want to try cleaning myself.

The shop did an interior detailing and changed in cab air filter but it is hard to get rid of "never showers" BO, cigarettes, and garbage funk.

if this doesn't belong here or the thread exists already an i missed it, feel free to ignore this.

TONS of ozium, pine sol, and a LEAF BLOWER after it soaks in and you wipe it down. Just MHO. Compressor with hose works great; wire it up for an hour or so... if you have access to such.

    Sorry, that sucks.

Febreeze whatever is left, I suppose. Sheesh.

(OR, You can hire a haz'mat cleaning team...if your company will reimburse you.. )

I thought about the hazmat cleanup crew... Think they can get it done during my 30?

No, you won't damage anyrhing with cleaners in the HVAC system, but the fragrance of them may be just as bad as the odor you are trying to eliminate. We have a used car dealership and use a few methods to clear up odor.

First, get a can of coffee and put it open paper bags in the cabinets, under the bunk and in other spaces then leave it for a day or two. It will begin to obsorb some odor until you can do a deep clean. Using Pine Sol, Purple Power or a similiar cleaner scrub down every surface you can, open the heater box where the fan is and clean inside there also.

Then when you have a 34 hour reset that you can be out of the truck get a couple cans of Ozium and spray them in the truck with the dash and bunk a/c on high recirculation for a hour or two. The Ozium does a great job of getting odor out. You.may have to repeat this treatment two or theee times depending on how deep seated the odors are.

Lastly, you may need to persuade your company to get you a new mattress. If you have cloth seats see if the covers come off easy, and if so hand wash them real well. The seat covers and cushions hold in more odor than the HVAC system ever will.
