3 years, hell mine shows a underage drinking suspension from sophomore year in high school 1996 that was not driving related. It was only punishment.

That's why I said most. And the three years for tickets I know from my own eyes is both MI and TX, and I've heard most other states do too from several sources including the mega HR lady that I was talking to as at the time I had a "Violation of basic speed law" ticket. Slid off an icy interstate into a ditch . She had never heard of it so I got called in to explain it.

And a suspension is more than a ticket, I don't know how most states handle those.

yeah, it was "hit or miss" for some states to actually restrict one to an automatic only, if he/she tested on such a truck.

which is why i always recommend to LEARN on a stick, and TEST on a stick, and be free of the rigmarole of switching over to non-restricted

now all states have that restriction.

You are talking about an 'E' restriction for a "Class A", "Class B", or "Class C" license. A "Class E" license is the basic automotive license for cars and pickups and such. The one most Americans get when they turn 16 and learn the joys of having to pay for a car.

Never heard it called that. I did take my test in a chevy caprice however.

    3. E Restriction- No Manual Transmission
This restriction prohibits the driver from driving vehicles with manual transmissions. You can get this restriction removed by completing the basic skills test and road driving test with a manual transmission instead of an automatic transmission. Don’t take your driving tests with an automatic transmission, the odds of you working for a company that has automatic transmission vehicles is very slim.

    ok, got it......

now, to be honest, my state calls it a Class 10 license......

if you recall, i retired a few months ago, and turned in my Class A-CDL

why they call it a Class 10, i have no fricking idea.....

    so each state is different.

but for the op to basically allude to the other poster as stupid still speaks volumes of his inept ability to appreciate any help he gets.

Oh, I agree about the attitude issue.
And for the record, when I got my car license in Texas it was a class C license (again, personal cars.) I had to go look up Class E also. Actually looking at https://drivinglaws.aaa.com/tag/types-of-drivers-licenses/ it seems only some states call a personal car license Class E which makes the op not only rude, but ignorant too.
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky (Mopeds only), Louisiana, New Jersey (motorcycle only), New York (weird one), South Carolina, and West Virginia

So 5 of 50 states use Class E for 4 wheelers. 2 states use Class E for bikes (not cars), and one state is a 4-wheeler license, but includes a buss up to 14 people.

Lol... I simply asked if he drove a truck?
How is that in any shape or form calling anyone stupid or rude??
For 1 it says Class E right om your drivers license when you READ it. Plus any other paperwork that is involved with it.
Maybe he never read his license and only has a Class E or is a new truck driver who knows....
That why I asked if he drove a truck.
Not to say anyone is stupid or smart simple question or was it more than that??
And speaks volumes cause I ask to legitimate questions... (wow)

Maybe you need to realize your state isn't the only state out there, as only 10% of the states say Class E on them. You would know this if you would read what I already stated.

And the question as asked was very rude. The implication was that that just because he lives in the 90% of the country that does not use Class E on their license he's not a truck driver.
