I got my Class A a few months back and when I finished, there were no restrictions written by my state trooper(in MA). I recently looked at my license and noticed the ‘M’ restriction. Will that effect by ability to drive anything other than passenger vehicles? I only drove boom trucks and dump trucks anyway, but just curious.

    Thanks.

    From DMV.org

M Restriction: Restricts you to operating a Class B or C passenger vehicle/school bus ONLY.
    • Occurs if you possess a Class A CDL, but earned your passenger/school bus endorsement driving a Class B vehicle.
So, without further testing, you are limited.

    Removing a CDL Restriction
If you wish to remove a restriction from your CDL, you may be required to complete or provide:

    • Additional written knowledge tests.
    • Additional road skills tests.
      • This includes testing in a vehicle meeting the requirements indicated by the restriction.
    • Further medical evaluations.
    • Payment of additional fees.

I guess why I’m confused is because I never took a passenger endorsement test or anything.

I would start with your local DMV (or BMV). I know it's a pain. But only way your going to get solid answers.

Alright thanks for the help. It doesn’t really affect me too much I guess since I don’t plan on driving a bus in the utility world anyway but it’s just a bit of a blemish on the license:D

Sounds like someone messed up. They should have records of what tests you took.

    Grubby Thanks this.

I wonder sometimes, if I am confused about any one thing, what class would I need to be able to run a max RV which is three axles and 54000 gross in the USA? You would think that is a class A type deal but I don't think they issue private A's for that purpose.
