Don't wast your time or money, get a decent inverter and run a regular household microwave.

I bought one on clarance (wavebox) have no plugs yet so cant tell you how it works but the plug into a lighter i dont see working very well most lighter socets are not 20 amp rated and i would assume it is starving the microwave of power shorting life of it or over heating wiring

Actually, based on the one listed in the link a few down from your posting: Provides the same 660 Watts on 12 Volts as on 120 VAC... This would equate to 55 Amps. I'd be REAL cautious about plugging this thing into any factory 'lighter' outlets.:biggrin_25513:

Junk. Never owned one but used one and to say the least will take you three #### hours to heat up something that only requires a minute! lol. Inverter and standard house microwave indeed is the way to go. In fact you might even like using a George Foreman even better if you have a good fridge.

Actually it states that it provides 660 watts if connected directly to the battery. It will also provide 235 watts if plugged into a 12v outlet of 20 amps minimum.

I know some companies don't allow inverters so this would be better than nothing. It would take a long time to heat even something small using the outlet though.

well since i read where it was bought on a "clearance sale", i have to wonder if its being discontinued as well...??? if so, its a throw away item, and at $200 + dollars, that's a lot to throw away.

like the others have said, best to just get a real good inverter, have the mechanic install that, then go with ordinary household appliances...

may be the 'cheapest way out", for long life items...????

8 to 10 years ago I picked up a brand new 12 volt microwave in some trading, after reading the instructions I decided not to use it.

it was a road pro & its still sitting in my spare bedrooms closet, it used 4 gauge cord, & pulled quite a few amps, plus it would cut off in 20 minutes to not overheat? it was rated at 600 or so watts, but I just wasnt happy with the instructions, so I bought a 600 watt 110 volt microwave, & a 750 watt inverter & used it in my camper.

besides a microwave & cooler/ fridge, my next favorite appliance is a crock pot.

as everyone has said, the best thing is a 110 volt & an inverter, or a portable inverter, & if it is to be used in a personal vehicle I almost would recomend a spare battery, & if spare battery is hooked to vehicle use an isolater to not pull your main battery down. that way appliance only runs on 1 battery & the other sill always be ready to crank you.
