well, day 2 of orientation in very sunny, very warm, very humid chicago is over. yesterday did various paperwork and drug tests. jb hunt does urine and hair follicles. got back around 330 i think it was. starts at 6 in the morning. today we did physicals, including lifting and getting felt up, along with doing checks to see if we were at risk for sleep apnea. if ur BMI is over 35 or your neck is over 17 inches around, u have 2 of the risk factors. as apparently i do. apparently the 10 pounds or so that i lost wasnt enough. been trying to lose weight the last week or so and before i got here. so they gave me a 6 month medical card and a sheet to take to my doctor to see if i should have a sleep study done or not. ironically this is what made me decide against going to prime. but they did say that if i lost weight and the doctor said i dont need a sleep study then alls well. so apparently i just have to lose 20 pounds.
anyway, today we also did the road test and backing, which is what i was most worried about. turns out that for the most part i was worrying about the wrong test! i was certainly rusty on a manual, as i havent driven 1 since april, and i havent driven a 10 spd since march. apparently all the trucks are straight 10s.
on another note, the inn they have u stay at isnt too bad, unfortunately it doesnt seem to have a pool, or working wifi. but the breakfast they have is free, and its pretty good. coffee, dunkin donuts, sausage and egg things, juice yogurt and such.
i heard 1 of the guys say he was gonna get 41 CPM. not sure what hes doing or how much experience he has tho.
lunch is free at the terminal cafeteria, as long as its under 7.50 in value. but u get enuff to eat.
cant think of anything else at the moment, if anyone has any questions just ask. so far its going pretty good, aside from the surprise of this sleep apnea check thing. -
day 3 is over. looked at the yard, heard some more horror stories. apparently jb hunt drivers are accident prone or something. ill add more details later, gotta get packed for tomorrow. coming home for the weekend.
anyway we also signed up for insurance benefits and direct deposit. tomorrow were going out in vans to see proper driving techniques and learn the "smith system -
do you know if they do hair test everywhere

got home last night. last day of orientation did more videos and a tiny bit of paperwork, got medical card and longform. also did some driving in a van with the smith system, that was exciting. so glad they taught me how to drive i wouldve been totally lost if they hadnt
