Chrome caps to cover wheel bolts... sure they look nice... but are a pain to take off and put back on when doing a pre-trip (yes... actually take them off and not just rub them to make it appear as I did).

    Do you guys like them?

I'm thinking of taking them all off. So what if I can see my bolts on my wheels. I want to see the bolts on my wheels...

I was very tempted to insert a joke, but noticed its a Canadian thread... So I'm biting my lip.

Since no one has replied, I'll give you a response from south of the border. Lug covers only get removed when taking the wheel off, or for recommended re-torquing interval after the wheel was removed. Otherwise it is considered tight, and within spec., the only thing to prompt further inspection would be the cap dented, missing, or rust stain coming from the lug(s).

The only violation of this kind I can reference in the states, is an unsubstantiated claim by a trucker who called into a radio station saying he was fined $750 for not doing his pre-trip, for having dirty lug/axle covers... just too stupid, to even think its real. JMO

I leave my nuts exposed too. Not because I don't like chrome, I just rather let it all hang out driving this sexy old freightliner.

I have screw on lug covers, snap on centers, and "sorta" shiny aluminum Alcoas ..... I have been in the bizz long enuf to know my wheels. I can see when my rims or nuts are loose ... same as I can on a company trailer. There are tell tale signs. If you run the same gear, or it's yours, all the time, you should know your gear. If I have a loose nut - I will see it - and I haven't missed one yet. Freshly chipped paint, new rust after a wet run, or something that just doesn't look right .... when you have to replace your own gear when it breaks .... you get a new appreciation for looking for problems .... that said .... I was always the same as a company driver because I'm old fashioned AND I didn't get paid for down time ....

I would think that if they're screw on kind that by checking they are tight, you would also know if the lug nut is also tight or loose. Snap ons on the hand....

Wow you must be strong I need a torque wrench to check tightness .. if they are loose enough to spin by hand cap will be gone at that point

If your nuts are loose, wear a jock strap.
