I am starting in car hauling business. I have 12yr dry van and container experience. I only be running toronto montreal in Canada (750miles round trip) I have 2 option, 1 use my 03 Freightliner Columbia day cab and buy 2009 wally mo 8car custom or buy combo 2002 Freightliner fld 370 cummins(1 car roof rack with small bunk)and 2000 7-8 car delavan trailer, which is in good shape. My main Question is which will be a better trailer for me to load easily. I would also like get in contract with Any broker/agent who can get me some business in This area. I have some work lined up to start they also will give me some required training but can not guarantee a lot work as I am running my own authorities and insurance. All those items for sale can be bought separately if I want to. I really like to hear from someone who used 09 wally mo or know about it as Its only 3yr old. Thanks for the help in advance.

Both Wally Mo and Delavan are good trailers. Personally, I prefer having a sleeper on the truck. I have owned both a day cab and sleeper pulling cars. It can be a hassle trying to find a hotel that has truck parking unless you want to sleep across the seats. Most car haulers do have small sleepers. I prefer the design of the Delavan. I have never owned a Wally Mo. I have owned Bankhead and Cottrell, which are the same company. I prefer those to any other trailer that is on the market, but would buy a Delavan. As far as loads are concerned, you may want to subscribe to Central Dispatch. They are the primary loadboard for carhaulers. I found my own loads when I hauled cars. I did use some brokers, but mostly had my own car dealers that I moved their cars. It may be too late now, but it would be much better for you to work for a carhauler as a company driver before you start hauling under your own authority. Insurance can be expensive and is difficult to find without experience. Some insurance companies don't like insuring carhaulers due to the high claims. A small scratch can cost a lot of money. One other note. You can haul one more car with the headrack than the day cab.

I sent you an email. I will be glad to take a look at it. Wally Mo is manufacturered in Holladay, TN. There facility is visible from I-40. I have seen new and used equipment on their lot. You might give them a call to see if they might have something that would meet your needs. I have seen trucks and trailers at times.

You may be setting yourself up for failure if all you want to do is run the 401 coridor between Mont. and the GTA. Get a bunk truck and be prepared to travel east and west of that zone. Once you have established yourself in that zone with companis and brokers, you can get choosy about your loads. Sorry about the spelling ... I just woke up and am heading out to 'log' another 14 hr day. BE ADVISED THAT A TREMENDOUS amount of traffic (high and low end) imports come in thru AUTOPORT Halifax and the Port Of Vancouver. Many go rail. Many go truck. IE - Pretty much all the Hansen's brokers east (ON, QC, NB, NS, and PE{Yep -PEI-That's you too Travis}) are running Cottrell NextGen Quick Loader gear to handle everything off the boat east to west like Mini's to HI-TOP Sprinter vans. My advice: Go national in your paperwork. Get a bunk. Get a low trailer with flexibility (IE Cottrell NextGen CX-7 or CX-09 series type of gear) or whatever. 'Luck with that.
