I’m looking for a set of drives for my Kenworth w900. My current tires have decent tread but they’re starting to crack out.
Has anyone ever run Samson or Triangle tires? They are about half the price of Michelin’s.
Curious how many miles you got on them. Lots of RV user reviews that say they’re okay but not many Reviews for big trucks.
Chinese Tires Samson or Triangle

Stick with an american casing. Chinese tires always shake in my experience.

They’ve both been around for a long time now, along with Hercules, Double Coin, and half dozen other names. All basically the same tire. I’ve heard there’s 2 Major Chinese Tire Manufacturers. Not sure if it’s true. Look on Alibaba, you’ll see them all. Buy enough Containers, and I’m sure they’ll put your name on them. Double Coin, one of the first names to gain any popularity as a good tire, has made a big comeback recently. I’ve ran two sets of Chinese tires on my drives. Probably soon to buy a 3rd set. I’ve had good luck with them. Gone are the days that 1 of 8 would be out of round.
truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
I’ve ran both, Triangles usually square off.
Try Synergy SP100 for cheap steer/Trailer tire
Road master RM852 are good drives, on my third year, can probably get another full year, roadmaster was made by cooper tire.

We put double coin on our 2 spotters and they did fine in a parking lot , id be leary of running them on a real truck out west on the big road.

If you want to know what manufacturer and plant made your tires look at the first 2 digits on the dot number. ( starting in year 2020 it is 3 digits. All now begin with a 1 just to denote the beginning of another 20 year cycle.)
Google tire dot plant codes. There are complete lists free online to tell you.
Example = B3 or now 1B3 is Michelin North America in Nova Scotia, Canada. They are the largest truck tire plant for michelin. Second is B7 or 1B7 in Dothan, Alabama.
There are lots of chinese plants of no-name origin listed. That should tell you something.randomname, truckdriver31, 650cat425 and 2 others Thank this. -
I’d probably go with goodyears or contis before I went with Chinese tires they are a little closer in price then Michelin, we have double coins on one of the dump trucks just because of the work it does and other then wearing a little funny they have been ok
truckdriver31, Doealex and Rideandrepair Thank this.
