I need advice on how much to charge for hauling chicken litter in Alabama. Better to charge per load or by the hour?

I'm not in Alabama, but there's a lot of litter around here. Producers are going to want to know what it costs per load or per ton. But, you're going to need to make it work based on your truck time. You need to correlate the two to come up with the rate. Essentially, decide what you need your truck to make per hour, then figure out how much time it takes to do a load.
Nobody can really give you much more advice without knowing what kind of equipment you're talking about. I see litter hauled with everything from 6 ton litter spreader trucks, to 12 yd trucks, to live bottoms. Need more information to really help you.wore out Thanks this. -
I'd think someone hauling other forms of solid waste may be a place to look for ideas.
Look for municipal waste disposal services, in fact, some of them may be involved in other areas. -
Where in Al are you, give me city pairs, equipment, and how often and i can get you a good idea

Around North Arkansas its a 200 minimum for a 25 ton load with an end dump or live floor trailer. Past the minimum distance they just figure the time and distance involved and work off of that, with a target of 3.50 per loaded mile

Friend of mine, in East Ga., doing that type stuff said 50-150 miles is $4.00 per loaded mile. Less mileage than that is hourly and price per mile can be reduced over 150.
