Hi and hello to everyone out there in the trucking world of the grand old USA well it used to be grand she going down the toilet reall quick now . so my question is or topic while i was driving on the Highways and byways all over the 48 states of the USA is constant driver usage of CB radios just for general chatter i found it very annoying and distracting so you'll probalby say well turn the darn thing down or off fair enough, but some of us like to keep them on to tune into any emergency or road condition up dates i have no issues with someone giving those kind of updates but when you travel for miles and miles and continue to hear the same old driver droning in on and on it gets a bit much how about changing down a channel or 2 and leaving the main 1 open for us real proffessionals who only use radio's for real emergency's , just a thought i guess everyone who loves to chat and hog the channel will hate what i say but as they say " you make not like what you hear but at least i speak the truth" Anyways happy travels and keep safe out there.

I think everyone here would agree with you, but you're preaching to the choir.

the professionals need their own channel so the real drivers dont have to listen to them cry.The other riff-raff freight haulers will always come an go,we're 20+ years used to it already so . . . . turn that knob to the left till it clicks and your professional world will then be perfect.

I thought most persons would use 19 to monitor and make initial contact, and if wanting a longer conversation, switch up or down a couple, to leave #19 clear. Isn't that how it should work? I'm on a 2 wheeler, but I really enjoy trucker contacts on 19 when on a long trip.

The funny thing is...You'll go all day and never hear a thing on the CB and then you'll start having a conversation with someone and two seconds later some guy will come on and start whining about you hogging the channel!
I like it when I hear guys BS'n on the radio...In all the years that I've been out here it's been the same way, You just chat a little bit and when someone has something to say they can break in and say it and then you just carry on with the conversation that you were having before.
Most of todays "drivers" don't do anything...Except smell bad, get fatter, complain, text, follow their GPS into a field or an alley, and otherwise do a poor job of operating a truck.
Hardly any of them even turn on the radio if they even have one and then if they do turn it on they don't say anything worth hearing.
FriedTater Thanks this. -
I just generally use it to give bear reports. even though most times I am in no danger with my 65mph truck. But I do like to know if the scales are open to find out if I need to hit a cat scale out of route or if I can wait till I get to one in route. I also use it for general bs and joking around with other drivers. If we can crack a joke or two to make each other laugh it makes the day go by a lot easier. When things turn to politics I just go to 38 lsb and try to see if any dx is going on.

I agree ch 19 should be used for quick talk of weather, traffic, police, etc....and if you want to talk on go to one of the other 39 unused channels.
Yes I too hate it when some ratchet jaw keeps on and on about something irrelevant.
As for spending a lot of money to keep a radio off.....that's too funny....a month ago I sold off my high dollar radio with all the bells and whistles....and just got myself a lower dollar CB that's just as good and has all I need and nothing more. Not cuz I keep it off but b/c 1 I'm not an OTR driver and 2 there's no CB activity where I am at. Best of all I only gave technically $5 for it. Even better it's not even peaked and tuned yet I still get good comments on it....and best of all it's a 30 year olf radio!
