DH is leaning towards this school. However, he recently found out that due to cuts in Federal grant funding the tuition will go from around $1,800.00 to around $4,900.00. According to his information, this tuition hike is to go into effect Fall Semester 2012. I about died when he told me, for this means his tuition will be almost the same as mine as a grad student at GSU. Yikes! :smt043

If anyone has recently been through this program and wishes to relay their thoughts and impressions on the classes, materials, and instructors, we would greatly appreciate it. It now looks like he'll be going over the summer, rather than in the Fall. Lots to do between now and that first class.

    Thanks for your help.

You should be there on May 12 from 10 - 4 pm.

As it's part of the states tech school system I can relate my experience
at my tech school( South Ga. Tech . College ) based on the assumption the program has a similar set up if you care to read it.

I went to North Georgia Technical College but I believe the curriculums are the same being state schools. We were also told the same thing about the tuition but it did not affect us at the time.

Anyway, in my opinion, I felt like I got my monies worth and probably more. I have heard good things about the instructor at Chattahoochee Tech doing the CTD course.

Like someone else posted above, there is a job fair this coming Saturday at the school with at least 11 companies showing up looking to hire. The teacher of the course will be there as well so you could meet him and talk with him.

I also posted my tech school experience in a separate thread. Don't be fooled by the title, it says Athens Tech but ended up going to North Georgia Tech because it was a little closer to home.

Thanks so much for the info. This fair that you (and Silvermitts) mentioned; DH will be there! I'm glad to find someone who has recently gone through a CDL course sponsored by the state of Georgia and I will read your thread for more insights.

I was wondering about the book(s) for his classes. I am a huge fan of buying my own books through sites such as Amazon Student and hope that they give him a book list early enough so that we may see if we can purchase them cheaper online. If not, no biggie.

    Thanks again.

P.S. My bad for the double-posting.

And now, I'm guilty of triple-posting.

Check out the school's bookstore to see if they might have some " used " books, I know a couple of the guys here sold theirs back so that might save you a few bucks.
My total for the books was $110 .00

    And -
Could you ask DH to make a list of the co.s hiring new grads ?
There might be 1 or 2 that we don't know about.

    slomocopshow Thanks this.
