We are looking at 2 Charge Air Coolers:
Duralite - 7yr non-prorate warranty
Detroit Radiator MAX - 10yr prorate warranty
The Duralite is built with silicone fittings that handle the hot/cold and expansion issues that plague OEM coolers.
The Detroit MAX uses a Bar and Plate design and claim that the silicone fittings get hard, crack and then leak.
..what I am wondering is if anyone has any experience with either Duralite or Detroit Radiators MAX CAC units?
Best price I have found so far:
Duralite $1000
Detroit $825

I've looked into Duralite but haven't bought one. Looks like the superior product to me.
If a deer runs into you or large road debris takes out your air-to-air cooler the insurance won't cover the aftermarket replacement. If you mess the front end up on a regular basis or you're working in a high risk area where the deer think they own the highway, go with the cheaper unit.
If you plan to keep it for a few years, it definitely won't leak and waste fuel for a long time and it will be a solid investment. Oh- if you're running higher than stock boost, always use the better cooler.Hanadarko Thanks this. -
i have the power max on my 9900i been on the truck for about a year now no problems at all looks to be very solid and far better than the stocker was around 900 to the door good product for the money id say

I just installed a Vista Pro CAC in my truck that is an "American" made copy of the Duralite CAC that is made in Canada. The Vista Pro was around $400 cheaper and has an 8 year/1 million mile warranty too.
I have the Pittsburgh Power Box with the PP ported manifold and larger turbo that I have blown out the stock OEM CAC with and the Vista Pro has so far handled the 50+ lbs boost with no problem.
Here is a thread I started on it with pictures here: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...0-vista-pro-automotive-charge-air-cooler.htmlHanadarko Thanks this. -
Here's a thread I started when I needed one. Good place to buy an intercooler? I've been happy with mine (from Detroit), it seems to be holding up well. You'll see in the thread that not all of their stuff is made in America, like they'll lead you to believe, mine was. Vista-Pro sounds pretty good to me too, if I'd known they were just down the road when I was replacing mine, that's probably where I would've gotten mine. (edit) Woohoo, 1,000 posts!

Duralite! I'm running a ported aftermarket manifold and a Bully Dog programmer. Putting out 60 lbs boost. Running in the bush on rough roads all day long. No problems with the Duralite so far.

Can't get any vendor below $1100 on this and most want LIST. -
Also, their prices are all over the board. Am assuming the Detroit sales reps pocket the difference pending the season. -
