I have a step deck trailer with 255/70/22.5 tires. I have 14 spare 11r22.5 tires. My trailer seems to eat tires like its going out of fashion and I know the low profile tires are problematic to begin with. My question is if anyone has changed out their low pro tires for the standard 11r22.5 tires. Will I run into any issues when I try to change the tire sizes? Any help is greatly appreciated.

That won't work on a step.

you will have to lift up air bags to keep deck 11/22.5 from rubbing your tread off.

255s are about 4" shorter than 11r 22.5. There is nothing "problematic" with 255's either. Either your truck, trailer, or you are the problem tearing up your tires. Do you have a dump valve?
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
I don't have a dump valve, the airbags have to be set manually from underneath. I don't doubt that the trailer (or myself) are having the issue, but I noticed the tread wear on the tire is uneven and it is just killing off tires like crazy.
I know some smaller tire shops that sell used tires will sometimes trade. Does anyone know know of any tire shops in Los Angeles that will trade my 11 22.5s for the low profiles? -
Without a dump valve, you're going to destroy your tires on sharp turns. That's how it is with a spread axle. It could also be something else causing your tire wear as well, but my first inclination is you're scrubbing the tires making turns.

I have had a few that got torn up because of tight turns while filly loaded. This is just uneven wear and steel starting to show. I just replaced 2 tires and now need another three. I guess I will just need a full set by the end of the month and see how it goes from there.

Are your shocks any good?
