Hi. Wondering if there is a simple formula to use for calculating the amount of cents per mile it cost to run? Thanks in advance for any input. Jon

"Simple Formula to... calculate CPM "?
AH hahahahahahahaha
Sorry. There is nothing simple about calculating cpm. In fact the simple expectation of this is a direct line to failure. Not trying to be a SA but this is something that you should spend months calculating over and over and over and over before attempting to step out as an OO. Truth be known most people that I have spoken to failed because when asked what thier CPM is they scratched thier head and said HUH! Bronk gave you a good start and there are multiple threads on the subject if you look for them. Also check OOIDA for a a CPM listing and fuel surcharge fomula's. If you are currently driving for someone then start doing the math for what it cost to run your truck now. Treat it as though it is your truck and you will begin to get a stronger base for what it will cost as an OO. Every time you fule write down the gals. and multiply it by current RETAIL prices cause you not going to get those big company discounts, tires, oil changes, repairs, tolls, permits.............. Add in the items Bronk listed plus a few more and you'll start to get a good base for your CPM as an OO.

Drivers wages should be at least 48cpm by them selves if not then it doesn't pay to own the truck and get paid less than a co. driver would make. Everything else sounds close. My fixed exp, or the top part of your list are about 40-45 cpm with payments, plus drivers wage of 65cpm and fuel costs about 35-40 cpm depending on cost and where i'm running
