Central Transport - Bath, PA

    Good to go? I heard they were #### years ago. Word is they got new equipment all around. Peterbilts and Prostars. They run automatic or ten speed and is the claim of $1400+ a week ######## or true? Also says they do fixed scheduling. I'm raising an eyebrow. They're 40 minutes from me. Was looking at them or Best Transport but waiting to see if Best Transport goes to Mount Pocono.

    My brother in law works for Central. Most trucks are newer Peterbilts with 10 speed.

    $1,400 a week for 65 hours maybe. They don't pay OT until 55 or 60 hours.

    I'd be wary as they are always advertising down at they're west chester pa terminal and also offering a 5,000 sign on bonus sends up red flags to me.

    lol yeah right. Home daily my ###. I just got back from a training run to California and saw those guys as far west as Wyoming and Nebraska in day cabs. Unless they have another yard hidden somewhere lol they're full of BS.

    Central Transport is a place that I wish would go under. I don't wish job losses on anyone, but another carrier would take its work overtime, and jobs would be created in those areas. The equipment is flat out dangerous, primarily the trailers. I know they finally got some new trucks, but their trailers need to be replaced.

    I interviewed with them out of Hillside, IL in November 2010. I was desperate working OTR for Roehl for the previous 3 months. I hated OTR, even though Roehl wasn't terrible (told me I'd be home every 5-7 days with 2 days off, but it was more 7-10 days out, but they rewarded me with 3 days off in return), but it wasn't for me. That terminal looked like it had been through war. $18.00 an hour sounded great since I was only making $700-$750 per week at Roehl making 30 cpm. I talked with my father, and he told me that if I wanted to protect my CDL I'd get as far away from CT as possible. He suggested doing Roehl's 7/7 since I hated OTR so much. That way I'd get experience, without getting homesick.

    CT wanted to send me for a DOT physical, but I never went. 1 month later I got a job at Pepsi.

    The $18 an hour was misleading too considering they don't pay OT until 55 freaking hours! You'd be better off taking a yard horse position at a company making $16 an hour paying OT over 40. Plus you'd have less responsibility just being at the yard all day. That was 6 1/2 years ago, so pay is better now at CT, but so is Yard Horse pay around the Chicagoland area. $22 an hour out of Hillaide now with #### insurance and no OT until 55 hours? Or $19 an hour as a spotter with OT over 40 and average insurance with less responsibility?

    CEntral Transport is garbage.
