if your talking about centerline drivers inc. based out of santa ana CA i can shed some light.
They used to be called TLC(transportation logistics co) there your typical driver leasing business that will hire drivers and use them on various accounts that need drivers either long term or casually. Personally i work in NJ an I have been with them for 5 years. All i can say is get on a dedicated account that is offering long term/permanent work. If you dont u will bounce around from job to job and it gets old real quick. Ever account pays diffrently. u may get on a job delivering mail that pays 17.50 n hour ot after 8. that might last 2 days then theyll find something else for u. they might find u working hauling a flatbed deleiering pipe for 18 an hour. u could possible find urself driving to a diffrent company driving difffrent equipment every day. If i wasnt dedicated to the account I am now i would have quit long ago. the days i dont have work because its slow its almost pathetic calling the CALIFORNIA base for them to find me a diffrent job to work. half the time theyll give u work thats like over an hour drive away. no thanks.. typical benefits pacage 401k vacation grows larger dependant on the hours u work. like 200 hours gets you .5 vacation hours. (just an example) but it works out like 2 weeks a year. no sick days. no personaly days. typical holdays paid at whatever u account pays for 8. It could be great It could be ######. all depends what account u land on. U could switch accounts if u dont like the one your on. But honeslty in jersey most there acounts suck. dont know where u from.

I worked for them for a few years back in the 90's / early 2000's when they were TLC. Everything Ink said is pretty right on the money. I worked one or two crap jobs for them, then landed a great gig hauling paper products that lasted a year. When that ended, since I proved myself, they set me up with another great gig that lasted almost 2 years. Both timesl the company's I was working for told TLC to give me a raise and the company's paid it via their contracts with TLC. I honestly have nothing bad to say about them. But it's like anywhere you go, it is what you make out of it. I would recommend them to a new driver for sure. Good way to get some time under your belt.

Centerline is now charging $12.50 to verify employment.I came off the road for a few months in order to take care of some health issues; I started working for Centerline. After getting issues resolved, I decided to go back to work for Hogan Dedicated.

I attended orientation at Hogan (Columbus, OH) from Monday 1/20/14 to Wednesday 1/22/14. By the end of orientation, Centerline STILL had not verified employment and I wound up sitting in a hotel room for 2 more days, then went home to Dayton.

On 1/23/14, I spoke with the Hogan recruiter who indicated that Centerline is now charging $12.50 to verify employment. Further, after Hogan paid the money (On 1/23/14), Centerline still wouldn't fill out verification paperwork. Today is 1/26/14. Hopefully tomorrow, Centerline will do the verification.

In times past, I would simply have shown check stubs, bank statements of direct deposit, logs, etc.. to get around this hurdle. In today's world, companies like Hogan Dedicated will not accept these as they only prove that I worked there; they do not show a safety history or a drug test history. I don't know the who, what, when, where, why or how regarding companies charging fees for employment verification, but, this is the first I have heard of it. (Hogan cannot rely upon DAC/Hire Right as not every company uses these and my employment with Centerline is so recent, they may not appear on the report).

Here is what concerns me: This could be a new "Big Thing" that is being done to reduce the instances of drivers job hopping. As a driver who wants to obey the rules, take few chances, and limit risk of costly fines and injury to my record..I have a few jobs lately. I'm thinking that if every one of my previous employers adopted this as starndard business practice, I could be in a world of hurt.

Tomorrow, 1/27/14, I am going to contact the Ohio Attorney General's Office to research the legality of this. I am also going to file for unemployment from Centerline as hasn't called me for an assignment. Any other suggestions?
