Has anyone attended training with Celadon, if so, how was it?

They advertise full meals, access to gym, and dormitory housing while you are there

But being that they are going bankrupt don't be surprised if they feed you oatmeal 3x a day and put you in a ####ty motel.

    Stay away dude

Hey! Im currently in phase 3 OTR training with Celadon. The facilities for the most part are nice. The rooms they put you in are nothing special and the beds are a tad uncomfortable but you’ll only be using them for a week or so. The food is alright with some of it being good. Its edible but its free. I actually really like the pizza they offer every noon, though!

Everyone has been really, really nice here for the most part. Almost the entire first week is a bunch of talking, computer labs, going over safety and policies with your road test and coupling/sliding tandems exercise thrown in. One of the road testers is a bit serious but hes nothing to worry about. They have a lot of knowledge so ask away. They give you two tries to pass their road test and will test again at the end of your training period before youre on your own.

Ive had no issues with my trainers so far and looking forward to getting on my own with my teammate in a little over a week.

Id definitely recommend it. Ive had an enjoyable experience aside from being nervous for that road test!

I read somewhere that they closed their school. Guess that was bad information. Where are you in their school?

They actually did close their school. I came in from a 3rd party school from Alabama. They still accept recent graduates and people with 6 mos experience or more and take you through their training program from there depending on your experience.

I was a recent graduate, so I had to do the 1 week of orientation (like anyone else who comes through), if you make it past that, experienced people who pass the tests immediately get assigned a truck. Recent grads like myself and those with no experience are made to ride and drive with a local trainer for 1 week and an OTR trainer for 2. After that they test you out and you’re on your own or with a partner (your choice.)

They still use their school facilities to house people for orientation, feed us, etc. They offer shuttles between buildings, to wal Mart, to get food and all that.

Are you still there? if so how's it going with getting paid weekly, treatment, etc.? I'm trying to decide between them, US Xpress, or SRT. Thanks.

Yep, still here. It’s going pretty good I think. My teammate and I have grossed almost 40k in 4 months (1 of those months getting training pay) Average pay would be 800-1100 a week take home. The bonuses are great. They treat us well and keep us moving. Only bad things are typical at any other company. Breakdowns, etc. I’d definitely recommend them!

We sold the school off and it is run by an independent company who actually leases our school facilities in Indy..
