Ok guys, a few things..
1. I never attended this school, and am self certifying.
2. Ive had limited interaction with office, instructors, and students.
3. Equipment Ive used is more than serviceable. Ive seen a lot worse at the test sites.
CDS stands for Commercial Drivers School.
They train for CDL A, B, Duals, bus and Straight Trucks
Equipment on site in Auburn WA
Semi Sleepers
Semi day cab
School busses
Dump trucks
Dual combinations
28' Straight
I cant tell you what they offer, but their price for four weeks is around $4500.
This is what I know.
I needed equipment to take a A test. Their rates are $380.
= 1hr with an instructor to make sure you are competent and wont kill someone. $130
= Cab (full sleeper) + 28' trailer for the day. $250
Extras:
Your $130 paid instructor time IS training. They WILL tell you what you are doing wrong and give instruction. My hour was actually 1.5hrs. Good stuff.
They work you in to help you pass, even if you didnt attend the school.
Im renting equipment and they are helping me out around the tuition paying customers. Ive had over 3hrs of free instruction.
Since they have been good to me, I just ask that if you are in the King or Pierce area, you check them out. Check others out too. Dont take my word for it, lol.
From what Ive seen, this school will at least help you pass your CDL tests. Spending time with the instructors has shown me much more in what you will need to be qualified for the real world as well.
Auburn, Lakewood, Port Orchard.
My only ##### is the price. Ill pay $130 every few weeks when I need it. But dropping down the promise of over $4g to get a job that is going to pay you $2400 a month is kind of ridiculous.
Thanks DEMs
Anyway, the tuition is more than competitive for the services Ive seen. Give them a look, then keep shopping. If they are the best option for you, give them a shot.
Thanks!

If I were you, I would try to get as much training and time behind the wheel as you can before going out on the road. Having a CDL doesn't mean that you know how to drive. You may pass the test with like 3 hours of training, but that is highly unlikely.
A better(and less expensive) option would be to go to your local unemployment office and look into their worker retraining programs-they usually have grants that pay for different in demand professions and trucking is usually one of them. They will give you a certificate and you could complete the school for free if you qualify.
i work with a guy who lost his job and the unemployment office paid for his whole training. -
$2400 a month? That's an extremely ###### trucking job.
Never experienced CDS but VATA Commercial Driving School in Lacey, WA is excellent. I went there for my Class B and A. -
I attended the Port Orchard branch of CDS. The instructors were great. They taught more than just to pass the CDL test. Several of their instructors are 3rd party testers for the state. They know their stuff. Their pre trip instruction is more than the state asks, so no problem passing that part of the test.

Eugine,
Ive been on the job training local for two months. 9 to 16 stops a day in a full sized 53'.
Was just trying to explain the school has given me about 3hrs of training and Ive only paid for 1hr. Tomorrow I go back and run through the pre trip a few more times and get some backing in for free, so that will be another hr or so. Good peeps there..
Ariel,
From the local drivers Ive talked to, $2400mo is about normal for new hires. Not sure what you will make over the road starting out.The Postman Thanks this. -
Thank you Game for your post You mentioned CDS and I started to look at Local driving schools to my area Everett WA I have 5 years prior experience OTR Class A 15 years ago just need to take a refresher so that I can hit the road. wife passed away I just got layed off and don't like sitting home by my self. unemployment will only last so long. Skagit City out of Mt Vernon offers refreshers etc. and works with the state employment. Beats what Swift was willing to offer 17 days no pay 6 weeks or 250 hrs. at WA minimum wage while with a trainer and 2 years to pay off 3900$ schooling. MT Vernon is only 28 miles from Everett and I don't have to go all the way to Lewiston ID for Swift school Or Cedar Rapids for CRS. The other kicker is the owner of the school is neighbors with my parents.
