Insurance companies go by their own assessment criteria. They may or may not assess state driver's license points and may weigh there own assessment points differently. The may or may not have access to state assessed points, they may evaluate violations differently, and some states do not assess a points system to a violation!

That is your insurance, your policy, your record, good for you. That situation does not apply to his. And, I guarantee non-moving violations are looked at by insurance companies.

Some states do not assess points, so I nor you, know what you are talking about.

So you know every states laws? I don't.

    . No kidding.

I am not confusing anything. I think you are. I never mentioned CSA. CSA was not supposed to ever suspend a truck drivers license although I am not sure that hasn't happened. Insurance companies, states, employers all use a different system of assessing a driver. What the CSA has done is provide them with complete access to all a driver's violations; moving or not. How each entity evaluates them is not congruent and you best believe non moving violations will count against a driver in one way or another.

Good, glad to see the agreement.

As too whether a CDL ticket will affect your personal insurance depends on the ticket and the insurance company. Years ago I had several speeding tickets in Nebraska, on my Colo. MVR report, they showed as speeding with ZERO points, however, my insurance company counted them against me because of the nature of the violation, even though they carried no points. I had several No Mudflap tickets as well, they didn't count those as they couldn't figure out how to ##### for them. However, I did have a ticket for "Failure to Stop, Port of Entry" essentially for dodging a scale. That ticket, even though it was in my home state and carried no points, was held against me, the insurance said it showed poor judgement on my part.

    Toomanybikes Thanks this.

So how many loads does the guy refuse due to legitimate safety concerns.... Before getting fired?

Or I suppose having to find another job due to not rolling because he has faulty equipment?

PS where the heck are you driving??

Or do you drive one of those rickety rock haulers that just beg to be inspected??

I am curious about the first two questions. I do find myself running with the occasional minor issue... Missing tape, marker bulb out, etc.

I am on a JIT account so dispatch says run it and get it fixed on the way back.
JIT means I can stop at loves and get the points for the repair. Don't have to suffer waiting at the nearest terminal.

Stayed with my current insurer and none of the stuff popped up. I got the same rate, but she said even though I moved further from the city that my current address radius has a higher accident rate. So I gotta be careful on that. Merry Christmas everyone!!

Of course they will. Tickets = Points, Points = Higher premiums. You only have one license. Pull your driving record. If there on there, you'll pay. You gotta tighten up dude. Good luck.

Costs $6 here to get copy of your driving record, get update and see how it looks. I've also found with many insurers, State Farm for one I know of for sure, won't necessarily pull a new record at renewal. I remember getting clean driving discounts renewed after getting tickets and no increases. I'd pull a copy just do you can intelligently discuss it with them if necessary.

Further from city has higher accident rate? I'd have to see those stats. Sounds like a line just to bump you.

Doesn't matter, both those things should part of a pretrip, falls in the drivers if he was to lazy to check.
