Live in Syracuse,NY. I am new to this, but would like info on how to get my cdl, I currently work for Fed EX, and I am looking into working with them. Can anyone recommend any good schools, and good prices?

Welcome Scott57
my ex went to PDI here in Rochester in the fall of '09 cost of $5000 for several wks training to basically pass his CDL which he did on the 2nd try. I have heard of NTTS in Syracuse but have no idea if it's any good. I would google local schools and go to them and talk to people there. From what I have read on here most schools cost about 5K seems to be the 'going' rate.
Good luck.Last edited: Jan 19, 2012

ntts in liverpool is 7-8,000 dollars depending on which program you want to get in to.oswego county boces has a cdl a program and its 4700. im calling the mohawk valley community program that nashville driver gave you a link for, today and will let you know how much it is. I do know its a sage school of trucking. I'm an electrician whos looking to get his cdl and have been researching for a little while now. rochester has a decent school too but prob to far of a drive every day. the sage school has the one in rome and another in vestal.

would it be worth you while ( if the price for the school in Rochester was a 'great' deal and I have no idea) to stay in Rochester for the time being? I know you probably could research cost of low budget hotel on line or calling around (can't think of any off hand at the moment...) but say the difference was like $3K difference in cost???
Just a thought since Syracuse and Rochester are about 1 1/2 hrs apart.....
