Hello, I would like to know if there are any trucking schools in the Maryland or York Pennsylvania areas? The schools i know of in the Baltimore area is Allstate Career institute and North America training schools but Allstate want like $10,000 for 6 months of training and North America have not so good reviews. I live in Maryland but im close to York, Hanover and Shrewsbury Pennsylvania areas, I'll do company paid traing if its close enough to drive to everyday...Thank you.

All you need is a 160 hr. school.
How long is Allstate and North American? -
Allstate is 6 months And I'll give north america a call tomorrow and inquire about there program.
-
I see Allstate is 24 weeks; that's way too long and just wastes your time and money.
Ask North American if they partner with any trucking companies. Some companies will pay up front for you and some will reimburse the tuition directly to you if you pay it.
What type job do you want and how old are you? Probably a couple dozen companies to choose from. -
Im 46 and would like dry van, Tanker or Reefer, Thanks.

Schneider Bulk is tanker and hires new cdl grads. They also reimburse up to $7000.00 tuition money directly to you.
Calex Logistics - refrigerated
Freymiller - refrigerated. Their website is a little confusing, but they do hire new cdl grads right out of school. They don't require 6 mos. experience; that's confusing on the website. Great refrigerated company; one of the best for new cdl grads.
Wadhams Enterprises Inc. - different types of trucking, including tankers.
Abilene Motor Express - dry van
Tyson Foods - refrigerated
Magnum Ltd. - refrigerated
www.cfidrive.com - dry van
Schuster - refrigerated - nations largest ice cream hauler; Blue Bunny Ice Cream
West Side Transport - dry van
Navajo Express - refrigerated
You probably won't hear about any of these in CDL school. The schools usually push 4 or 5 big mega companies and don't look at details. All the above hire new cdl grads. Submit online applications during the first week of school; don't wait until graduation. This way you have plenty of time to choose the one you like best and set up an orientation date.
A few of these reimburse tuition, but don't let that be a deciding factor; just pick a good company and make some decent paychecks. -
Nick Stimbu Inc. - refrigerated - Teamsters if you want a union outfit.

Try s&h / shelly driving school in York. S&h is the company and shelly is the driving school. I've seen them advertise and have also seen them on 83 and in York driving around. Don't know much else about them.
